Man, this is gonna be my soapbox, I'm sorry in advance. Isn't it interesting how every second comment on here is mentioning how much they hate Sooah, how awful she is, how terrible how blah blah blah, especially compared to Mirae.
At the very least, try, just, try to interpret the message the author is trying to get across. Which is how women are valued based on their looks and their behaviours (and how that behaviour conforms to certain standards) in a way the men are NOT.
So we've got Sooah, who at this point in the story hasn't really done anything wrong (She hasn't necessarily done anything "nice" either - but whatever). We've had multiple hints that she may have some internalised issues e.g., walking excessively far for exercise, weighing herself, saying some problematic things (woman should do what men like oppa!1!).
Then we've got Mirae, who due to being called ugly her whole life has gotten a ton of surgery (but can't win anyway, because apparently, that's not desirable either) and rates peoples looks in her head, is abit of a pushover, but arguably nice. Who's more vain? Who's worse? Who's better? Who do we want to end up happy?
Or, maybe, just maybe, these aren't things we're meant to consider. Both of these women have had experiences in their lives which have taught them that looking and acting in a certain way is how they will gain value as a human being. Sooah, as the "pretty *nice* natural girl that men like" and Mirae as the conventionally "beautiful girl". None of these issues have been brought up with any of the male characters. Which is especially shown during that fuck fest of a festival. I get this is a story, and I get we want to root for the main character, but it would be cool if people really examined the toxicity of pitting women against each other in some weird competition. Its gross.
