I already read this story years ago, but in fragments, so I was sad, but not teary when I read this again. However, when Adolph/WenShu started talking about how he hated dogs, prevented Lewis/ZhiShu from having one, and how its ironic how the dog is the only one kind to him now, I started to break down crying.
How twisted must you be to have something you hated irrationally be the only thing that sticks by you in the end?
The characters didn't charm me enough to be attached to them, but they are still memorable. But overall I'm more sad about the situation than sad for the characters.
Oh, and the art is fucking stunning.

I honestly get incest vibes from this.
Reasoning: He was older than her when they were both minors, watched her grow up, and was friends with her brother.
If they were both classmates and grew up or they met with an age gap when they were both over 18, I wouldn't feel urked.

But the point of incest is you having sexual intercourse with a close relative. Doesnt matter if sibling or not. Also, siblings who are not close, and who didnt grow up together can still have incest. So, no it's "incest vibes" because by that logic technically every couple has or can have "incest vibes".

She was prepubescent/beginning of puberty while he was 4/5 through puberty. A later teen growing up with someone way younger than them is typically the behavior of an older sibling. That's why I said it gave me incest vibes. I never said it WAS incest. So considering the fact that growth and puberty happen at an exponential rate (decreasing) and the fact that this guy grew up with her similar to an older brother, it feels icky.
And most couples actually meet their partners at 27/28, they don't meet as children, a lot of the times due to the platonic manner or because "they feel like they would be dating their sister/brother." I've heard that phrase by real people several times over, while this is a smut manga.

The author is a genius. I think people focus so much on the romantic aspects of the story and couples that they miss why/how the interactions between characters make a compelling work of art. I'm glad each character is 3 dimensional and fleshed out. Also I typically get scared when stories are "too deep" because they are hard to follow, negative aspects are romanticized, and dialogue is unrealistically fancy. But this story was not the case, so I fucking loved it. I might actually purchase this manhwa if any physical books are printed.
And I see why the author said they'd like to think of happiness as something continuous but elevates and declines, but I usually feel that way about sadness. Happiness isn't something even 1% present sometimes for me. I guess that's why this story made me cry a lot lmao.
I typically read the story with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ru7tHyGhYw on loop to heighten the impact of the plot.
Stay healthy.
I haven't read this but is this like the reality tv show, "Naked and Afraid?"
