His lover is either dead(since its the showa era vs modern) or that was a dream of past life, orrrr he can go back(but idk how) with the option of choosing the old guy or the modern guy. Another theory is that sungwoo might've known that they met eras ago and he fell in love again with him despite the circumstances and he wrote the novel for him based on his memories of past life. 12/10 I LOVE THE FACT THAT THE AUTHOR IS NOT AFRAID OF MAKING THESE HUMAN FLAWS. The story fits the title perfectly and the character development is satisfying. Stories with perfect characters are good but that doesnt make stories with problematic characters any less.
Imo, i like these kind of stories more as we humans can naturally learn from mistakes(though it differs individually especially those who refuses to do so) and trusting the process of positive behavioural change must EXCEED the impression from the negative past one once had.
