Her explanation is so weak, but also I understand where she's coming from. She doesn't want him to feel as lonely as she felt (even though she's clearly projecting). Also it makes a little more sense if you think about it from the baby's pov. As she grows she could get ostracized by having bisexual parents (which people will label as just gay).
