At Ch 40 and the inconsistency is making my head hurt.
The fl is supposed to be smart, and she is but she's strangely stupid at random times and emotional and acts strange.
She fell for a stupid trap by Jekyll, didn't knew what her powers were till it was announced by Assius and then blames him for not "saving her"? You knew he came to find you for a bet against the goddess???? Wtf? And after not trusting him, blaming him etc she still cries in his arms... What?

The ml Assius is similarly inconsistent. He's here to bind or control Isbelle but falls in love and does things to please her. But he is never transparent with her or explains anything to her and acts cold and distant. How can you be that cruel to someone you like?

Are they both twisted in the head?
And with this bloody succession war going on where the Royal children keep dying and king is dying how is the kingdom functioning? No fcking way the empire won't know like dafuq two visits and u can notice half the people are missing

Recommending bl novels day 2: Sha Po Lang (Stars of chaos) by Priest

Genres: ancient china, steampunk, kingdom building

Setting/time period: Ancient chinese society, monarchy. But this has steampunk theme in wars and weaponry, and the whole plot more or less revolves around resource fighting for Ziulijin- the violetgold.

Major plot focus: the plot is focussed on court politics and wars. And believe me when I say my blood was pumping REAL HARD reading the huge war, the countless rebellions and throne changes, even the political schemes.

The leads: Chang Geng our mc and Gu Yun, the love interest they are both so amazing. Not only are they written realistically maturing in characters and development but. . . they are admirable.
Specially Gu Yun. I swear I feel nothing but pure respect and admiration towards this fearless and great military General of four sides. He's fearsome, fearless, and so so amazing.
Chang Geng, i have to say had a rather abrupt (but reasonable) change in character, but still he's so sharp, cunning, yet soft towards his yifu and has an amazing vision for building the empire.
They both have flaws, likes, dislikes, their own struggles, they care, they adjust, they fight, they love each other.

On the topic of yifu/adoptive father: tbh Gu Yun is like 7-8 years older. And he was rarely ever with Chang Geng, who had already liked him since 14 years of age. Anyways, there's no grooming since they met so late, never really stayed together, and GY never was like a father.

Side characters: well written, cunning, realistic, hateful, loveable.
Overall a fantastic work by Priest.

The plot starts as Wen Renhe, the sect leader of demonic faction gets a book about a girl Baili Qingmao and her love with her elder sect brother He Wenchao. A story with 4 male leads and full of dog blood drama and torture.
Wen Renhe ventures out to figure out the truth as to why he and his subordinate Yin Hanjiang fell in love with Baili and why she's so stupid.

The story beautifully portrays two types of love. One where Wen Renhe and Yin Hanjiang slowly grow to genuinely love each other and express their care, possessiveness, vulnerabilities and memories.
The other is how Baili slowly recovers from her painful and self hurting love of He Wenchao (who is a womanizer) and finds her own Way in life.

Great plot progression and side characters, female characters and no plot holes at all. Unique character writing and perfect translation.
Hmm won't the master system cast his gaze over? Is this OK...
