It's a losing the gender roles thing in a romance, I like historical novels and manhwas etc, where a lot of times a female character wouldn't be realistic, it would feel forced. Also I like how the ML are in focus rather than some barely relatable heroine. Bl and full out porn are also different things
Im not mlm but i am wlw so i feel like if you see two boys together, dating or friends, when you compare them to your bl characters, it kind of disregards all respect. Bl is fiction but gay men are real people and deserve to be treated like people and not like your favourite couples from your stories. If you enjoy bl, thats fine, just like Gl, but if you link real lgbtq couples to your fictional couples its kind of dehumanising.
When you enjoy Bl solely for the smut, thats even worse. And if you put yourself in any of the s3xual participant’s shoes/want to be in their place, you are fetishising gay ppl.

once again, you cannot compare straight people to gay people. we are not on the same level. you can read bl without fetishizing, but the comparison of straight to gay is not valid. straight couples will never be looked at like sex objects in society, meanwhile gay/lesbian people are.
im mlm and i agree to everything nikkigt said so idrk what else to add to theirs but there’s no problem in enjoying or appreciating mlm romance at all!
but for a non-mlm that reads yaoi solely for the seggs scenes to be their fap material and puts no regard to the actual relationship or plot then thats pretty much fetishizing lol.
also if you’re (for example) wlm and you read straight mangas for the seggs then it’s totally fine because,, well,, you’re wlm and thats how wlm seggs works.
and yes, the fact that people do read yaoi just for the seggs is getting a lot more common but it doesnt mean that it’s okay for people to do it bc it’s “normal”. it’s actually very concerning on how it’s becoming so common.

Yeahhh same , I used to love regular romance anime like maid sama and toradora, and I still do. But I cant watch the new romance animes that are coming out. It has to be BL fir me to watch an romance anime like Given , or yuri on ice( not BL but somewhat is). I can watch regular anime like jjk and death note , but romance ways it has to be yaoi.

no , um I'll give some more background. Basically the Brown hair has a slick ponytail and beard , owns a bar. One day a kid with red hair comes and ask the bar owner what gay sex is like. hyuga pushes him away but finally gives In and lets him stay the night.
