I hate sistem so I try not to read them but
generally in the ones I have read they stay in the world because they fell in love with someone from that world. Or they have always been a worker and the sistem is simply their assistant so they obviously keep working because it's their job to fix various worlds.
But this is the first time I see they are not working for a sistem but they decide to die and keep helping worlds
