I didn't like Ethan at all on the shit translation because he ruined her life but the official translation makes it a little better. He realized he fucked up, that he ruined her life and a lot of what happened before was his fault. He wanted power and he wanted power by her side and couldn't acceot anything other than what he wanted. Hopefully this life he is less piss baby about pushing her to be Empress. If she ends up Empress and not her brother's right hand, this story's plot will end as shit.
Something about this story is starting to unsettle me, I'm starting to dislike Hestia. No one seems redeemable to me except maybe the ML. What's Hestia's end goal? Is she trying to drive Diana into suicide?
Well Hestia does hold a lot of resentment toward Diana since she only thinks about herself and never bothered to check up on the ML after she had her (almost) happy ending in their first life. But it doesn't seem to me like she wants her to die but she wants her to suffer and get her revenge which to me it's understandable why have pity on a person like Diana? that's my opinion.
An eye for an eye, cael was driven to madness and worse initially. She deeply loves cael and wont stop until cael tells her he’s completely okay. Her vindictive nature is out of love and ego, i think it’s fairly comforting. I’m not a vindictive person so i don’t relate to hestia, but i find comfort in her actions because this way cael is served some justice, ‘it’d be nice if someone feels this heavily for the injustice that has happened to me’ is a thought that pops up when i think about hestia’s irrationality. I think hestia’s end goal is vengeance to the most of her ability, ethics aside, feelings first, but the story’s end goal is romance. It’s essaentially a happy go lucky love story, so plot will stop hestia from turning to a unforgivably immoral person, that’s her plot armour. If it’s unsettling to you, drop it, but i think you’re overthinking a lighthearted plot. That’s just my take though. I think endgame for diana might be divorce, probably hestia’s aim too, since divorce in thag position means losing everything, and with her reputation currently going down the drain, being stripped of her status likely means social death. She’d end up a nun or something, doesn’t seem like a character who’d commit suicide. Plot will probably makes her become more hate-able by making her switch teams to cael or something.
Although Hestia's attitude is somewhat bad to the crown princess, if you're reading this then you must know things are bad for Diana because of her own attitude. Hestia only made it more noticeable to other people.
Also, remember that Hestia was once a reader who got thrown into this world, without anyone and anything and the only drive for her to live was Cael. Now, if your only rope is someone who killed himself due to somebody's actions, wouldn't you feel resentful as well? Hestia saw it for herself how Cael took his life with her own eyes. She was devastated. And her devastation changed into something akin to loathing towards the person who made him do it.
Now, her second life and chance came. She saw her reason to live in the world of the novel again. Broken, but alive. She's taking preventative measure to keep Cael from harm. And what will possibly harm Cael? Of course, his first love. Now, when Cael was killed in their first lives, what did that first love do? Nothing. No one cared. Diana didn't even care a bit when Cael died. If I am Hestia, I would probably do all those things she did.
Remember, Diana's situation is bad not because of Hestia but because of herself, her mindset and hypocrital personality. Diana dug her own grave, Hestia's merely making her dug it faster and deeper :)
...and I think Hestia's main goal is to let Diana experience what she's experienced when Cael died. The feeling that you've got nothing at all. No love, no one, no nothing.
And I think her end goal is to make the Crown Prince and Princess to get a divorce, and to take down the other main backing of Diana, which is the Temple. So Diana won't have anything anymore. Though, all of these are just my personal opinion. :)
Thanks! Yeah, I once thought "is what Hestia doing to Diana alright?" but then thinking back all unlucky situations that happened to Diana happened because of Diana herself. She's the main perpetrator as to why this is happening to her. And it was even described in Hestia's first life that Diana and the prince broke things off not even a few years later their marriage -- meaning even without Hestia's actions, Diana's life will still be ruined because of her own stupidity.
I personally don't think Hestia ever claimed to be a good person especially since her only interest and concerns are meant for the ML and she could give little to no shit about the prince or Diana. She hopes they suffer. I hope that clears most of it up cause I agree where she pushes a lot but Im also not going to expect her to pull her punches.
How is it questionable ? The original story had Kael dying isolated from the world because of these two idiots who shunned him for trying to keep that white lotus safe, and they had the nerve to not even last long in either, because of them, not only did he lost the will to live but his existence was totally erased due to the announcement of their divorce. And none of them felt guilty enough to come forwad and apologise to him till Hess came along.
