Like frustrating, or really really annoying slow burn thing. Like you want something to happen, or want some character to have something, but the author has different plans in mind. Or the character is very unlucky. Or stuck in unfortunate situations. But somehow it all works out in the end? Or not

when i first read A Tree Without Roots, the concept of main pairing reminded me of the main pairing from SVSSS
in a way where basically the caregiver (uke) takes care of love-deprived orphan (seme) and then "betrays" aka abandoning the seme "for the best", which causes the seme to have severe issues and so angst slowburn begins!
the seme grows up into a pretty successful handsome dude but is so desperate for uke while the uke thinks he's gonna kill him lol
it's a good read if ur into villain isekais and love slow burn angst
