Well considering the options, he is the one non-relative who did not do super-duper unliving leading stuff to her. The situation was a close call but he is indeed the incest-free option that isn't just a twat for the sake of being one.
Although atm he is acting like an asshole and for that he deserves some minor punishment.
Why didn't she invite her parents? If it was regarding time, she could've had someone tell them while they were getting ready, and if she was worried about them objecting, she could've just summon them without telling them what it was about.
Also, who was there to officiate the union? Because unless it was legal, then it was just a big waste of time...

I think she rushed it without a thought. Maybe after she said to get married it was a same day wedding so nobody was invited except her maid
They didn't specify when he was leaving (highly doubt it was the next day or was it?), and they could've had the ceremony in her family estate (at most they live 2-3 hrs from them?).
They had time to dress up and get to the venue...
It's just frustrating because there were a million other ways this could've been handled, but in order to add in drama the author wrote it like this...I love drama and conflict, but not when it was so obviously shoehorned in...I can't really explain it, but it's a pet peeve I have.
Ripley is impulsive, if you didn't notice. In the novel iirc he left for the war a day after the wedding. Ripley's thoughts was on war and Geronis and her feelings are all mixed of fear, worry and happiness. In that state of mind and feeling, does she even have the time to be thinking of anyone else?
Besides it's her wedding. She's not the OG Ripley and she's definitely not as close to OG's parents. So it's natural that she'd not think of them as often.
To me, it's perfectly natural of how Ripley does it(the wedding rush). It'd be more odd if she were to be calm and composed and prepare everything perfectly in such a short amount of time to officiate the wedding. That's just not her.
People saying that it is okay for them not to have kids, and that's fine...if it were a modern story, but this is set in a time and place where women still have very little rights and are considered to be inferior, the fact that her not having a child was never addressed or played a vital focus in the story is odd.
The issue, is that it was never addressed:
Is she infertile? Is he?
Are they waiting on kids, in order to have more time as a married couple?
Are they going to adopt?
Did they decide not to have kids? What about the Duchy succession? Does the Duke have a qualified relative that he is willing to pass on the title to should he pass away? Why didn't the king press them on this (since it is his duty to make sure the nobles fulfill theirs)?
When you take on a title, you have a responsibility to procure an heir, because what will happen to all the people the Duchy is responsible for and are under its care? They are not some peasants living a simple life, they decided to stay on as a Duke/Duchess and have all of the benefits that come with the title, but they also have duties that need to be fulfilled.
All of that was glossed over or never addressed. Again, not expecting much from a story that solved every issue by throwing tea at it, but come on..
You've said all that I was thinking. I even thought that they were probably trying to make this and open ending. But it still wouldn't make sense since there's a lot of plot holes.
I'm just gonna add a bit on the kids, part. She did mention her plans when her friend gave birth. She felt flustered when her friend asked about her family plan but she recovered her composure fast because to her, tea expansion within the empire is more important and she knows that the duke will accept her with or without kids. So we won't know if one of them is infertile or not especially since kids is not in her plans for now.
And I'm sure they probably have a contraceptive option, probably developed by magic. I don't know, I just presumed since the birth rate are not that high with her married friends or tea companions.

Share the same sentiment as others, the story is dragging on so much and we haven't even been introduced to the church (main villain).
I really wonder if the novel does cover everything the adaptation is or if the artist/adapter is taking liberties, much like the artist/author from "who made me a princess" added like 40 chapters of character development/POV for Jenette (insignificant character that apparently she liked and shoved down her readers throats)and cut out a lot of crucial moments of the MC.
Apparently she Ragequit the series and will finish it in as little chapters as possible because she was getting hate for deviating so much from the source material, apparently even received death threats.
I kinda dropped it after she started singing because i was confused on why she’s doing it in the first place, the story was cute and getting somewhere but now I’m lost and can’t really read any more, I just want to see the two end up together, I thought it would come quicker since he has been watching her or whatever but now all it is is about her singing and i don’t know what that has to do with the story
All of that, just for her to go back...really? 2/3rds of the 40 chapters is her getting abused and then when she finally gets away, she is going back.
If the MC were cunning and smart I would've assumed she is going back because she will accuse them and demand a trial...but my hopes are as high as freshly cut grass.

It bothers me that she is so weak willed and naive..."I'll make you my queen", like bitch she'll make you her queen. She's the only child of the emperor and heir apparent, she's going to be empress in her own right and this a-hole says that he'll make her his queen. Girl, at least stand up for yourself and demand respect, you are your daughter's father.

That also pissed me off, things happen and everyone is okay with it.
I find myself constantly comparing this story with "who made me a princess". Literally the same premise and similar characters, but completely different execution and character development.
