The idea was fun, like a new take on Hogwarts. But wow this school is terrible! They don't even warn the new student the danger of stepping out of bounds and just throws her in the forest on her own, and on top of that after she is cursed with an actual curse and a life with a familiar that thinks of her as food, she gets no help at all from the school. The teacher sees her getting bullied by both her classmates and her familiar and he just leaves? And they still haven't taught her anything in order to perform the task she's been given, she had to go ask to be taught herself. Grrr! It annoyed the crap out of me!
I'm so over these rape is normal and not traumatizing stories! It's one thing if there are rape elements and the reaction to it makes sense, even if the story is sick and twisted, but completely another when the character gets raped, even acknowledges that it was rape, but falls in love with the rapist(almost immediately in this case). Just BAAAHHHH!!!! So sick of them!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I don't actually mind if there's rape in a manga but only when it adds something to the story, like the trauma the character has to deal with and how they cope after, and the empathetic anger it brings out of the reader can bring you closer to the characters. Not in cases like this when the act has literally no effect on the plot, and no reaction from the characters from the act, like rape is no different than getting bumped in the shoulder.
Amen. I've been reading yaoi for damn near 20 years now and it will never cease to amaze me that's it's still used as a plot device in (supposed) love stories.
That's the thing that I don't get it literally does nothing for the story they just throw it in there for no reason like everything could be fine aoft and fluffy anf them boom random rape scene and then characters carry on like nothing happened like just kwjwiw why do they have to have it in every damn story like that I just (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
