every time i see a comment like this in these types of stories (modern setting most of the time) it just proves to me that people don't know what enemies to lovers means

Firstly please remember this is indeed a manga and every character in this is very clearly hyperbolised!
Secondly, though I do understand that Dan is a victim I do also think that he’s a GROWN man (23 years old) and can make his own decisions and doesn’t have to put himself through what he’s going through. An example of this is when he spent his late nights working a side job to get jaekyung a present for his birthday (which he threw away in his face). He is clearly capable of finding other measures of income and he also has the dedication and mindset to do so and to say that this abusive boxer is the only way is belittling on his part.. AND having worked for someone as high status as jaekyung makes his chances of employability elsewhere even higher so if he wanted to leave HE COULD..

if we want to start acting like these are real people let’s face it..there aren’t many real people that would’ve made a lot of the decisions Kim Dan has made up to this point.. I stand by what I said crying, allowing yourself to be disrespected and wallowing in your sorrow all the time will not fix your problems.

just did, still disagree, now i have more reason to think youre like 12 if you think 23 is such a grown age, literally the frontal lobe of your brain doesnt develop fully until 25(!!) years old, he’s still young and has a lot to learn, also he’s clearly emotionally and financially depentend on Jaekyung, and he feels indebted to him which doesnt make things easier, add rape and mental assault to that and you’ll understand why he acts the way he acts, maybe read a little about Stockholm Syndrome, or how victims tend to cling and defent their abusers in such complex situations, seeing how he doesnt really have any friend or family, except for his grandma who’s in the hospital, he has nowhere to turn for advice or just someone to talk, thats all im gonna say in response to your ignorant comment :)

Also the whole Stockholm syndrome thing is completely irrelevant to this storyline so you should definitely dive deeper into that before even comparing it to Dan and JKs relationship dynamic.

Exactly.. it isn’t relevant because I don’t recall i point where Dan was ever trying to make excuses for what JK has been doing to him. He’s never really sympathised or tried to rationalise what JK has done to him. Infact, in a lot (if not all) of the chapters he’s shown how uncomfortable he feels by the guy and he even said “how much longer will I have to do this for” in chapter 11 or something alone those lines. This isn’t Stockholm syndrome so let’s not throw words around. If you reread this, Dan WANTS to leave but he just doesn’t feel like he can because he doesn’t realise that he has the option to leave when realistically he completely does.

Im not sure if my previous response to your comment sent but to summarise the point I made Dan is literally a fictional, exaggerated character so its a bit silly to try and apply real life circumstances into this because a lot of the decisions Dan has made wouldnt have been made by a real human being. If the author made Dan make real human decisions, the manga would’ve been over by like chapter 3 so keep that in mind too before calling people ignorant and childish for not having the same opinion as you!:)
