I was 16. I think you should do it when you want to. Some people see it as a big deal, while others don't - for some it's a way to express your love for your partner, for others it's just something physical that do not hold any meaning. Why on Earth would you think that you know more about their sexuality's "world" than them, because you're reading yaoi?? Gosh, haha. However being a homosexual myself, there's no difference, as it should be for all sexualities and partnerships.
