I love Talas more than words can do justice. Ali did say that desert women are tough as nails, but Talas is so much braver and self-assured than what people around her give credit for. She's a brilliant, intelligent, resourceful, adaptable and courageous woman! She gave up all the comfort and familiarity of Karakalpakstan , took the risk to move to a country miles across the sea, whose people are condescending and pretentious to say the least, just because she prioritized her happiness in the one life she has, and that takes guts. She has more guts than upper class Victorian women, like Henry and Edward’s mother. She may not be royalty, but she's a true Queen, an aristocrat by any other name.
