They're both obsessed with Ian tho. Ian literally was interested in Jo in the first season just because he had the same "obsessive eyes" as TJ. There are so many scenes of Jo being obsessed with Ian too and imo in a weirder way while TJ is actually reflecting on their relationship so there's character growth. Also Ian is kinda obsessed with TJ as well.
