I had the same thought as many - whats wrong with how he looks, he looks just fine to me, and then read all the other comments, that the authour couldnt portray the ugliness well, but he is supposed to be ugly. But damn, at the last frames he was drawn quite clearly (not in shadows like in the beginning of the chapter) and he looked perfectly normal! So no wonder ppl couldnt understand and make assumptions. Again ppl just assume that "the author just couldnt draw the ugliness well so we got what we got, no offense, guys". I still find it weird, it seems not to be a big deal just to add some strange scarry texture all over his skin, or make it green or bright red or smth, and then no one will have questions. Otherwise no wonder everyone is surprised why a perfectly normal looking person is perceived as a monster...

Was he supposed to be ugly?

I’d like to think that it’s just a way to support the idea that he was never ugly or scary, people just chose to be afraid of them and call them ugly. It’s also more so of the personality that they gain after being cursed that gives them the name of ‘monster’. The ML killed people in the forest because of his curse for years. It’s not that they ever LOOK like monsters, but the way they act or how people perceive them? Correct me if need be though :p

    Faust July 22, 2025 7:48 am

It either might be the fact that the author just didn't know how to make him rotten (cuz it was said that people affected by the curse are immortal and can heal instantly but their body does rot) or it might be a mental disorder (there is a mental disorder that makes a person think they are ugly so maybe the curse can do the same thing to people affected by it so simply an illusion). Tbf I would like if the knight is just ugly and his lover accepts it rather than making him handsome again. Acceptance can be more healing than any outer change.

The mc's mom is utterly shocked by his appearance and there is some conversation of reason being that he is a monster (though it might be due to the fact that he was a victim of the curse but it seemed she guessed that even before he took of his helmet thing as she said "the man next to you is related to it"). His face most of the time is covered by a speech bubble or in shadows until much closer to the end of the chapter. Also mc is planning to fix his skin so there must be smth wrong with it in other ppl view. So this is an obvious conclusion many might make.

Ssska July 13, 2025 7:35 am

I just reread the first chapter to remember why i liked the art so much when this all started cz in recent chapters mc's face just doesnt do it for me, and yeah it was much better back then.

    Camelia July 13, 2025 8:00 am

His face somehow was more mature and masculine, that's why I really liked art style at the beginning

Ssska July 12, 2025 5:23 pm

Well if you want to redempt a scumbag either make him save the mc or play a pity card like him getting seriously injured or ill so mc cannot resist forgiving him. Though in this case he has kinda already forgiven him, we just needed the last touch...

Ssska July 12, 2025 5:07 pm

The trope we all deserve - a white moonlight getting together with a substitute and ditching a scumbag. Even though the ml is a psycho he is still, mostly, an obidient psycho and as long as mc is fine with what he does i dont mind either.
Agree with other commentors - mc's family are really in the wrong, they took in a child as a substitute, did not raise him well, spoiled him, and when their education brought fruit they just scolded him, sent presents to rich ppl involved and nobody cared about the party who was actually hurt, until, surprise, surprise, he turned out being their real son, and now they just abandon the adopted kid like used goods without taking responsibility for his behaviour which was indulged by them all along. The mc is right not to forgive them.

So in chapter 85 he kinda died at last (honestly i would prefer he stays this way) but does anyone know if he did for real or is it some kind of coma or smth?

    Vivian July 24, 2025 9:22 pm

He did die. At least according to the novel mtl. But oh well… he didn’t die for good. On the mountains there’s a place that keeps his body intact without decomposing. Qiyu’s gonna find the medicine and Liqing comes to life after like a year(3years?) or so. But his mind got broken he becomes intellectually challenged. Spends his time with Xinxu, while Qiyu kinda loiters around. PXX starts doing some questionable stuff…

I sooo much did not care about anything happening in this manhwa after around chapter 20...

Ssska July 6, 2025 7:31 pm

Thos makes me more and more anxious with each chapter!

Ssska July 6, 2025 1:17 pm

I liked the art but tbh the story is about nothing. Like you can trim to 5 chapters with the same result.

    J713D July 6, 2025 3:35 pm

Me too but I still have faith there'd be more
The characters did have they "complex" story; we still don't know what's going on with seme's family and know NOTHING about uke at all. Don't forget about the "second couple" (somehow I don't want them together lol but I want to read their story)
Anyway...to many things to put on the sides stories so I guess we're not getting answers

Ssska July 1, 2025 5:01 pm

In the matter of seconds i went from "f*ck i am dropping this" to "thank god it was just his imagination."

NAHH I WAS GONNA WARN EVERYONE NOT TO READ THIS.THANK GOD IT WAS FAKE

The story is still pretty sick but if that scene were real that would be smth i couldnt tolerate and go on with reading it.

Like is the first part good or bad??

Ssska July 1, 2025 4:53 am

Ok whatever mls reason for being like this, experiments or some mutation, even if we can understand, but in mc shoes i would never forgive him for killing my family.

    Rahat July 1, 2025 4:55 am

He probably won’t either (hopefully) hence the unrequited love tag for Guwon

    punpurin July 1, 2025 5:28 am

i really hope it doesn't become a "stockholm syndrome" trope where mc just forgives him for killing his entire family. But knowing bl's author's and their fans...that's probs what'll end up happening
