The only character development i would accept is that he sacrifices his life for Penelope. Hopefully Penelope doesn't forgive Derrick for everything, he doesn't deserve it, so if he dies; he better die with the exact amount of pain, despair, sadness, anger that he caused Penelope. He shouldn't be forgiven, not even in his last moments (︶︿︶)＝凸
