I think that with the way the ML grew up, with his personality in addition to his somewhat detached childhood; it’s either he has a hard time perceiving or understanding the concepts or feelings for love or that he has a different definition for it entirely. Therefore, his actions, words, way of thinking and expressions reflect what is being shown in the manhwa.
But then then again I am not a heebie jeebee psychologist that is able to read people.
