I mean, I heard through spoilers on a thread that the brother is alive still and the two will meet later along the way through the tower. It's a long process for him to grow before he finds out his brother isn't really dead. I only somewhat remember reading the part where he meets his brother only to see he's not dead as he was lead to believe. No one in the tower knew he was still alive as they all thought he was killed as well. It was a shocking news I read >,>

I'm not 100% sure on that, but he could be and yet he might not be I'd have to look back into the spoilers thread to see. Just knowing they'll meet is enough of a spoiler for me to sit in anticipation. I just remember it had something to do with a secret hidden within that pocket watch, that watch is a very valuable key component in finding him.
