i feel like it's kind of a tricky question.
For starters: yes, he defo would have been healthier and wayyy better than this, he probably would have grown up just fine, not having attachment issues or developing borderline psychotic behaviors and coping mechanisms.
And still, even if his childhood environmen4 was still toxic and abusive, IF he had proper psychological support throughout his life he probably would have ended up still being a better person, properly equipped to deal with his traumas.
BUT, and this is an important point, in the end we are always responsible for our own actions. which means that the abusive environment he's grown up with might explain his traumas and his shit behavior, but doesn't excuse his actions and the harm he's done to other people. in the end, he still chose to behave in a toxic way, even if that choice was conditioned by other awful experiences that should have never have happened. it doesn't make it less serious, I think.
