I'm not really sure how to answer your question. We all have different ways of how our parents discipline us. I, too, was spanked, slapped, shouted etc. as a form of discipline. But turns out, it actually helped me to be more mindful of my words and surroundings. Although the downside is I have low self-esteem due to this way of disciplining.
