yo did anybody else read the novel? spoilers for the upcoming arc:

i only read the next few chapters cuz i got impatient so correct me if this gets redeemed or addressed later on— but is anybody else pissed that kei is so casual about cheating on ushio???? like yea he didn’t fully go through with it but he legit considered it and deadass was about to do it. like hey?! emotional cheating is a real thing! and it’s crazy that it gets brushed over.

kind of ruined it for me and makes me disappointed in him. but i’m hoping that they change this in the manga or clarify it more so he’s not deadass just lowkey accepting a proposal to cheat. i mean they also adapted it so it’s a lottt less rapey/dub con in the manga than in the novel and movie so i think there’s high hopes for another good alteration like that

Ew What. If thats true I really really hope they change that too... that's so lame, and it was so good too...( ̄へ ̄)

    Whatttt whyyyy can you explain???

    Dw50963 April 26, 2025 2:10 pm

Honestly as shitty as it is I kind of respect including it in the story.
I thought the way Ushio punished him for it was hilarious too.

Kei is a shitty, flawed, selsfish brat, and him almost cheating like that just reinforces it way more, cheating is the big bad thing in relationships right? Kei you sinful boy… he is weak to temptation ideed… i can totally see it happening even if I hadn’t read the novel.

Whatttt whyyyy can you explain??? Gold Mine

    spoilers:

tatsuki proposes a love affair to kei and gets reallll close at his house while ushio is away. kei doesn’t go through with it in the end and pushes tatsuki away last second + ushio barges in to ‘punish him’ but bro was rlllly considering that affair for a hot minute (“he almost began to wonder if it might not be an entirely terrible idea.”), which gets acknowledged by all three of them.

(“‘I tried to seduce Kuniedsan, and he seemed like he was considering it a little.’
    He was far too truthful.
    ‘Damn you, Minagawa—‘“)

maybe i’m being super overdramatic LOL; cuz to me cheating is unacceptable. but i’ll just save any negative thoughts until after the manga adapts it since it’s been rlly good at changing things so far. i also do agree it does well in highlighting kei as his selfish, flawed character but i can’t help but be disappointed in him yknow lmao

    Jimmy April 26, 2025 4:55 pm

this is exactly why i particularly hate this section of the first volume and never read it when i reread the whole series. i think kei is redeemed with his actions in the other volumes but yeah… i really hate it

    Frogdisciple April 26, 2025 8:34 pm

I think their relationship is a bit all over the place anyway in the novel, I was hoping it would be refined a bit more in the manga but it’s very slim chance

    hahahiblack April 27, 2025 1:55 am

I collected every volume so i know what you're talking about. The mc is made to be shitty in the beginning. Too tsun for my usual taste too. But the later part is good so i think he redeemed himself in my mind (my most hated part is the amnesiac arc like i know why it exist but ughhhhh its painful to read)

i personally really liked kei until i read this he’s “flawed” sure but not in a way he hurts the people around him, he just has a bit of an attitude that he doesn’t even show to anyone, but to think he’d consider cheating is just feels so out of character because he loves ushio so much and treated him as so precious :( also the romance is just lack luster and dead if the characters would consider cheating on the other like im not interested if they ain’t obsessed with eachother. ahhh this was so disappointing to read

LMAO I read this in 2022 but skimmed it over again rn. I enjoyed it and think most of the low ratings are from people who drop it early on or don’t understand it. Didn’t reread it too thoroughly but here’s a long summary because I wanted to yap about it:

MC (Hitoshi) is a teacher who got raped by an unknown assailant and he puts up a wanted poster. ML (Kai) is a rapper in a pretty lawless area called the “shelter” and used to be MC’s student. Unknown to MC, ML also got raped by the same person (Mamiya) that MC did and has intense trauma. ML sells his body to the rapist because Mamiya is a bigshot with a lot of influence in the shelter and he was planning on making one of the kids (Buta) his next victim. ML took Buta’s place and has sex with Mamiya as a shield to try to deter him from taking on any more child victims.

ML is deeply traumatized by all this + heavily reliant on drugs; his only outlet for the pain is through rap. He sees MC with a similar starting trauma and claims he was his rapist (he isn’t) and says he wants to see MC fall into a similar hell (probably to feel a sense of solidarity knowing that somebody he looked up to can also go thru the same shitty life he had). But deep down, ML actually wanted to help MC by giving him an outlet for his anger and introducing him to rap since that was ML’s own coping mechanism.

A lot of things happen and ML does a lot of drugs while MC gets fired at his school for rapping but he starts teaching kids at the shelter instead. ML is angry/jealous seeing that MC is actually coping in a healthy way and isn’t falling into the same despair that ML went through after he got raped. Buta (the kid) gets killed by other kids because they were jealous of his happiness and ML sees himself in those kids. He feels like shit realizing that he’s been harming the MC out of jealousy for his happiness and pettiness because he wanted MC to focus only on him. (ML says he killed Buta himself but I’m pretty sure he’s just tripping out on drugs and hallucinating.)

MC realizes that ML is lying about being his rapist and remembers that he was his student. He learns that ML dropped out because he was targeted by Mamiya as a student and reads ML’s lyrics to better understand his pain. MC also realizes they share the same rapist but the police refuse to arrest him so MC sets fire to the culprit and runs away with the ML. They share a final night of love before ML commits suicide.

Turns out, the fire didn’t fully kill Mamiya but the rapist’s underling (Mitsui) finished him off with a gun because he wanted to take over his power. Mitsui planned to use the MC as the scapegoat and send him to prison but ML took his place in becoming the scapegoat, thus getting killed by Mitsui to protect MC. In the end, Hitoshi sets up a school by the shelter and reminisces about his love for Kai.

Overall- I’m probably missing some things but it was a pretty good read! Dark themes and a tragic ending so it may not be for everybody but it has a lot of raw emotions, a non-romanticized depiction of rape, and nice art. Kai is really the most tragic victim in the story :(

I think it’s crazy to comment and say that people who read this or enjoyed reading it LIKE incest. I’m not even trying to defend this manga; like I also felt disgusted while reading and trust me- I hate the incest trope with a passion. But did we read the same manga? Because not once did this manga try to romanticize a single thing that the MC does.

The entire manga actively shows us how insanely fucked up the MC’s thoughts are and the MC himself is even self-aware of how messed up he is. It’s clearly just meant to be a psychologically twisted read and doesn’t normalize his actions. It’s pretty evident that the author’s intentions are to paint incest and his fantasies in a disturbing light. There are tons of mainstream, popular works out there that ACTUALLY romanticize incest and normalize rape but this manga is imo definitely not one of them lmao.

I’m not trying to defend this manga and you’re completely free to have an opinion and dislike it for any reason, but just know that some of the claims and arguments being made in the comments here are so WILD. When a character does something crazy, it doesn’t always mean it’s “romanticized” and when a reader enjoys a story, it definitely doesn’t mean the reader always agrees with the character’s actions. I hope some of you guys stay far away from works by other psychological authors.

Guys I just binged this manhwa today and I’m brainrot obsessed. I’m so abnormal about this story that after seeing people in the comments forget or be confused about the plot, I wrote a 1.6k word summary about it LMAOO

But here’s the short version of that summary. I might put the long ass summary in the replies too though because why is this plot so convoluted???

SPOILERS:

- Nigel learns that the world is just a game and his knight Inas is actually a transmigrator who has been stuck in a time loop for a LONG ass time
- Nigel gets a quest from the god of this world’s incarnate (Glarus) to eliminate Inas because he’s a foreign entity and is the one causing these time loops
- A lot of things happen but Nigel learns that he isn’t just a NPC but also a transmigrator like Inas and his real name is Jiwoon. He took over the body of OG!Nigel after his car accident on Earth because OG!Nigel learned the true nature of this world on like Inas’s 187th loop. OG!Nigel then gave up his body to escape and thus became the god’s incarnate Glarus, aka the one giving MC quests.
- Nigel begs Inas to return back to the real world with him; Inas refuses and steals MC’s duke title while MC runs away to a diff mansion.
- Half a year later and shit is going down. Kay (the game’s protag/hero who regained all memories and hates Inas) and Etna (Nigel’s older brother who wants to kill the MC because he took over OG!Nigel’s body) is causing chaos. MC also learns from Glarus that this is the world’s last session meaning there will be no more time loops after this and the world will be destroyed.
- Nigel regains even more memories and learns that HE was actually the original first transmigrator long before Inas even was (Inas is user01 while Jiwoon is user00) Nigel/Jiwoon was actually the one who was stuck in an eternal loop first and over time lost his humanity but fell in love with Inas, who was just a normal NPC. Eventually, Jiwoon got a skill that let him transfer his time loop powers to somebody else. Inas, out of love, consented to being Jiwoon’s sacrifice/victim (thus the title “how to raise a victim/sacrifice”) and took on his burden of time loops. Thus, Jiwoon forgot all his time looping memories and became the NPC Nigel while Inas believed HE was the real transmigrator. So Inas suffered in Jiwoon’s stead and suffered for a long ass time because of it before he eventually remembered the whole truth that Inas is the NPC and Nigel is the real transmigrator (thus why Inas refused the MC to go back to the real world)
- After regaining memories, Inas and Nigel go to stop the world’s end by stopping this magic orb thing that’s causing demons to run loose. Inas also combines his powers with the magic orb to create a multi-dimensional portal for Nigel to get sent back to the real world. Nigel wants to stay with Inas but Inas sacrifices all his power and sends Nigel back
- (This is where season 2 starts) Nigel wakes up as Jiwoon in the modern world except everything is an illusion and that’s where we’re up to date
