Mika and Yuu being gay was never going to be canon for a lot of reasons. But Shinoa’s feelings literally feel like they come out of nowhere. It makes sense for her to have a crush on Yuu but Love??? She has not developed her personal relationship with him enough for it to truly be romantic love. The author is forcing this romantic arc/plot/sub-plot/whatever it’s giving big “telling you not showing you.” They merged souls with each other, Yuu is possibly destroying the world for Mika and trusts him before others, and both have put the lives of others at risk to help each other. They have acted this way since the beginning and continue to act like this. The emotional backbone of this story is the relationship between Mika and Yuu, romantic or not. Shinoa has not had as much one-on-one “screen time” with Yuu like Mika has but she is written with the same self sacrificing attitude towards Yuu without the emotional labor that Mika and Yuu have shown towards each other. I hope this is a one sided love and Yuu doesn’t end up with her but if that’s the case it basically ruins her character. Her sister’s only character trait is obsession with Greun and now Shinoa’s is obsession with Yuu.
I’m less mad about Mika and Yuu not being gay, I’m mad that the most important female character in this story has been turned into a one dimensional character and instead of having her own relationship with Yuu she is going through the same beats that Mika already did.
LITERALLY. i want 0 romance. if kagami-sensei takes the route of reducing shinoa whose entire being revolves around "loving" a boy, AND they end up together, i'm dropping it lol.
shinoa has so much potential as a dynamic character but it's starting to look like your typical shoujo romance and it just seems so forced. the 2 have no chemistry whatsoever and it's getting really annoying how forced it's becoming.
plus if yuunoa was canon then kagami got some explaining to do with how much he hinted and heavily implied at mikayuu being canon
The April Fools Art!!!!!!! So cute I would love for them to remain friends now that I’m out of college and barely speak to any school friends, I just started college when this started LMAO, it kinda makes me nostalgic for these kinds of conversations we had and how we imagined out future. Not as much drama and trauma but it feels so realistic to me.
Extremely weird that the April Fools Art of older junhwan triggered this emotion in me but I really love this story and I want to see these boys grow up!
No, I totally understand what you mean. And I think the art touched a sad feeling a lot of us had that maybe they wouldn't be there for each other anymore as adults, but we can see that at least some of them stay together. Which especially given the whole broken family theme of this story, makes me wanna cry. And it was so cute, even if just one little panel. This whole last chapter aughh. I never want this story to end but also I know it needs to ;-;
Read this in 3 days, LOVE SO MUCH. The story is great, its length actually suits it, the art for the monsters and races are amazing and the theme carries throughout AAAAA I have not enjoyed a story like this for a while. Only criticism is Falin’s part. She played the damsel in distress, which is a call back to the classic fantasy games this is based on. But I feel like she should’ve stayed dead or been more involved in the story. Even her dragon form didn’t do much other than act out Thistle’s actions. Either way I love the progression of the story a lot and This is going in a re read list for me! I may watch the anime as it comes out, but probably not until Mithuru is introduced because I started reading this to find out about the elf twink I saw all over twitter lmao
aaaaa I’m going to explore what I think about Zeno.
Spoilers: my speculation, character analysis, and general summary of Zeno
Logically he could’ve waited until Yona and the dragons were older to do this plan but like he said the dragons were severely injured outside of their country so he thought he was saving them from a painful dead or saving a future reincarnation from being born. Living so long and knowing his dragon brothers existed out there but would never bond with him without the existence of the Red Dragon must have been soul crushing. His original brothers died and the original Red Dragon died and he had to watch them grow old while he survived, massive guilt plus the deaths of those closest to him. He also had a difficult relationship with the Red Dragon because he wanted to use his power to protect others and the Red Dragon knew what it meant but never really had a conversation with him about it. He waited to the reincarnation to feel whole again but his waiting made him resentful of the dragon gods and tired of being alive having to forget those he bonds with just to be able to keep on going. Zeno’s story is kinda an inverse of the Red Dragon who gave up immortality to peruse a completely human life and his brothers cursed innocent people and bloodlines with short life spans and a legacy that made others fear them. I don’t blame Zeno for just wanting to rest because even though he’s gotten close to Yona and the bunch he is still emotionally distant because he already had to watch so many people disappear. He believes he is saving the dragons from the reincarnation cycle, he also just wants to finally rest.
I really hope they can be reincarnated as humans like the original Red Dragon did.
I understand it’s for drama but there’s so many ways this situation could be handled better.
Objectively little man is safer away from MC because of all the adjacent mob stuff even if he has the alpha protect them. I would still argue you’re better off with people you consider family and this is going to give him major trust issues. Why doesn’t MC just visit his brother? I understand he panicked because he is in a super stressful situation and he’s been abandoned by all his parental figures and has that trauma to fight against too. But still he’s just being an asshole by depriving his brother of himself.
I am an oldest sister and like I don’t know if I could raise my younger siblings, I have a similar age difference with MC being more than 10 years older. But just visit the kid and help him transition living situations it’s really traumatizing. But this series did start with MC trying to drown both of them so I think MC has a whole lot to heal from.
Depending on if they make little man’s dad (mom? Since omega?) a bad guy but if he is just a normal guy who temporarily couldn’t care for his child because of being in an abusive relationship then it might be better to be in a more stable situation. But again giant IF he isn’t neglectful or continues to demonstrate that he is willing to abandon his kid.
As much as i agree with you that the mc visiting would be good, we’ve also got to understand the relationship they have. They’re pretty much all each other has and if they so much as even see each other again, there will be no going back. There’s no seperating them apart ever again. And i think mc knows that as well. So as much as it hurts, it kinda has to be done. He knows his situation atm and he needs get things better for his lil bro. If he takes him back it will be the same thing all over again or possibly even worse.
Waaa?? Why is everyone hating on seme’s hair I thought the gloomy long hair was cute, new haircut is good too. The ponytail was a bit weird to me though.
I thought the long hair was cute too!!
