Psyche plays a big role in that matter. In the previous chapters, Medea realized the ability of the souls to go back to its original body once Psyche's body or Psyche's soul is under dangerous situation. They took advantage of this as Psyche has great divine/holy powers to protect Medea's body from poison. All according to Medeas plan until she noticed Eros unusual or maybe unprecedented behavior becoming at its worst. (These are all based on my own analysis. Peace) ( This is what I reasoned to myself to at the very least, I could understand the flow)
