PLS SAVE A LIFE RHANK U
bruh i swear the dad loved him like crazy in the earlier chaps but suddenly he switched up like he never loved him or cared for him im confused ik their relationship was strained from the stepmom thing but i dont think thats reason enough to hate ur kid in one go lol
literally i’m so shocked about how fast he switched
He probably showed affection to Cyrus in the beginning because things seemed stable with the stepmom, and he longed for the "happy family" dynamic he had when Cyrus's mom was alive. But when that facade shattered as Cyrus fought his stepmom, the dad began to show his real feelings. Whether due to unresolved trauma, emotional immaturity, or narcissism, he blamed Cyrus for everything. While he likely loved Cyrus in the past, his inability to cope with grief led him to seek a replacement for his wife, only to end up resenting Cyrus. He probably values the stepmom more because he sees her as a reminder of the life he had before, and losing her might feel like reopening old wounds and facing even more hardship.
yeah i agree with you to an extent and i definitely had that in mind !! but if even if it were the case it doesn’t exactly justify as to why cyrus took the dad’s behaviour as if it were the norm - and cyrus recalls missing those ‘special’ memories when he was younger and admits it to the father, so it kinda connotes that he was never really was a proper father after his cry to his deceased wife, it just doesnt match up with why cirrus wanted to avoid his father n their relationship from the beginning to the end i just think the author lowk forgot but love her n the story nonetheless lol
Yeah you got a point. Tbh I lowkey forgot those moments as well. I hope the author explains it more in the next chapters or I the author's notes.
