I will never stop loving this story. it’s not perfect in the sense that every character is inherently good or morally pure, they’re not the "good people" some make them out to be but that doesn’t make it a bad story. in fact, that’s what makes it feel real. these characters are flawed, emotional, sometimes messy and that humanity is what makes them soo compelling. ml struggles deeply with how others perceive him n he doesn’t have anyone he can truly lean on. sure, you could argue he has genuine friends, but nothing compares to the support of a parent. his foster family was kind, amazing but it will never b the same. that absence shaped him, it taught him to be independent, to hide parts of himself and then jaerim came along and slowly, gently, began to unfold that guarded self. some say jaerim deserved better but what does “better” even mean? replacing yuri with smn else? smn more conventionally easy to love? jaerim chose yuri. he knew exactly what he was getting into. yes, he may seem too good for him, but that doesn’t mean they need to break up or find “better” matches it js means they have the chance to grow together.
n god, one of my favorite side chapters will always be aerak’s story. it wasn’t typical, and mayb that’s why ppl usually dislikes it. it’s not the kind of romance most people prefer, but it is the kind aerak would want. only time will tell what the future holds for them (where its obv turned into happy ending considering the final chap). sure, maybe their relationship began from attraction and physical looks but who’s to say that always leads to toxicity? mayb it’s the lack of “assurance” that ppl fixate on, wondering if love will last if their appearance change but not everything needs to come with guarantees to b considered good, personally it give it a personality. not everything has to be a fairytale, wrapped in clean-cut romance and that’s exactly what i love about this story
i absolutely agree with you about how the imperfections of the characters is what makes this story stands out from others. i just LOVE the way they are simply highschoolers who make mistakes and become better people after that! especially our yuri because although everyone look up to him like a saint with no flaws and all, he is still acknowledge that he isn't and start to love jaerim for seeing and accepting that of him.
