yeah i love its gleeful immorality tbh because it keeps things spicy and exciting and no one is Actually being hurt. like in shows with real live actors a story like this WOULD make me more uncomfortable even tho no one is actually being beaten or raped. its alot harder to watch and also real people had to act out that messed up stuff. but since its p much a Cartoon...if ever there was a good avenue to explore some fucked up scenarios i daresay comics and novels are the way to do it. totally safe. the only thing this story rly needs is trigger warnings and the occasional disclaimer (which the eng releases usually have but the original korean doesnt. who knows why).
What a perfect series of events to create both a kind and jaded empress. You can like or hate whoever you want but I think if you look at the narrative in terms of fate, a series of circumstances that had to come to pass for an era of prosperity, while it dismisses the pain suffered by every individual character, isn’t Yona perfect? And not because the author just made her that way, but her environment and history created the perfect balance of pain, love, and understanding for a person suited to oversee matters as terrible as the cruelty, lifelessness, and brutality of political history.

You really gotta give him one for the massive ego of his character. He did definitely go to her to get his ass beat, drunk and even tried raising a hand to her. Again, I think we’re all pretty much on the same page that Doona’s BDSM is highly unprofessional, unsafe, and has ridiculously dubious consent, but in the spirit of complete fantasy, I think we’re still entitled to enjoy it.

Uh, I never justified Mr. Psycho’s actions. I feel like that’s a whole different category than Doona despite the overlap. Also, I don’t condone Doona’s actions either. Once again, given that this is FANTASY and the “person” in question is in fact a FICTIONAL character, my kneejerk personal preference for the STORY is that he is treated as a brat and whacked around a bit by DOONA, not Mr. Psychopath.
Just to hammer home the fact that this is FICTIONAL, I would like to point out that Minho does not portray the symptoms of a rape victim. I feel like you should take note of that.
My personal preference for the story is that I become the main character.
For story preference I'd prefer Doona raping Minho, Haesol and Wookyung because female on male rape is one of my favorite tags in porn.

Oof, okay. At the very beginning, I was on the side of “fantasy is just fantasy”, I admit it. However, after getting this far and definitely paying attention to all of the translation notes and how they point out the author’s mindset towards these topics... this is a gross misrepresentation of the bdsm community, normalizes abuse and touts a complete lack of consent as something arousing. Minho was supposed to be made into a hate-able character to justify all the horrid things done to him but, the level of abuse he’s suffered and his mental state are beyond acceptable.
Rape is definitely one of those topics that give dark stories their basis at times, and when handled carefully, can lead to a very deep, compelling and woeful story. This... this was rape-themed porn with an overabundence of violence.
I wonder if this is a product of the author’s environment? Could the author hate men so much she portrays them as monsters, pathetic manipulators, or victims? Doesn’t justify her publication, but I really wonder...
