But I am a poor child who is under 18
Oh god, I can't describe into words how much a love this artist's style. The old school designs and even the SFX placement and the usage of speech bubbles and boxes as tangible things. It's excellent! Those are all things that are almost lost in modern manga.
This makes me want to reread some Hitomi-sensei no Hokenshitsu just to satisfy my panels fetish. That manga had E.X.C.E.L.L.E.N.T panels, SFX, and cynicism.
We've come to a branch in the story. Let's see what routes we have now.
Bad mom route: keeps this a secret to protect her and her son's happiness (being in a stable family with stable income).
Good mom route: Takes responsibility for her son's mistake and make him take responsibility too. (there are lots of ways for this and one of them is divorce and taking responsibility for the child she's pregnant with. There are lots of ways she could butcher this tho and one of them is abortion.) But she has to take responsibility and live with the shame of having a child that raped his step brother repeatedly. Shunning her son is also fucking bad he has to take responsibility too and live with his crime and regret of ruining his family.
Shitty story route: The mom's health deteriorates because of the stress of knowing and keeping this a secret and goes through miscarriage.
If it goes shitty route
Mom will probably confront Hikaru and get mad and get a miscarriage and Hikaru will feel bad and blame himself and be all pitiful and use that to manipulate Haruki into caring for him or at least staying by his side? Then hanabusa will show up but they cant get back together because haruki cant get out of the pity party
if it goes like that I'll re read tadaima okaeri 20x to wash my soul
Additional route: Hikaru (sorry if I'm getting the names messed up), who is so emotionally traumatized that he's a shell of a human being, sees no point in telling her Hikaru initiated it. He has no reason for living. He still loves his family, though, and wants them to be happy. So he lies to the mother and tells her it's his fault so that she won't have to know her son is a monster. He's dead inside, anyway. One less relationship won't change anything.
His face bothers me a lot. It's not Hidamari Sketch level but it's still really stretched!

T-T-THIS IS WHY YAOI IS SUCH A HORRIBLE GENRE THAT SHOULD CEASE TO EXIST FOR THE WELL BEING OF HUMANITY. *deep breath*
Look here... This manga is not sane and is not portrayed in a sane way, the little brother clearly belongs behind bars, He's a psychopath. He raped his brother, abused him, imprisoned him, manipulated him, made him quit his job, took his home, and is quite fine being in the same skin as himself without feeling remorse or anything like that.
Taking care of a cat and making a fucking sandwich doesn’t make the bad things you did fucking disappear.
I stopped reading this in the middle of chapter 5, I’d rather gauge my eyes out rather than see them having consensual sex after all the fucking horrible shit the little brother did.
I would actually be fine if the author did the usual routine in yaoi (get raped—>oh he exists—>I can’t stop thinking of him—>I love him) but the author instead tried (and obviously failed) to make the victim’s reaction real and traumatized. She tried to establish that he wasn’t fine after he got raped which mislead us into thinking this might be a bit different from what we usually see in BL. At the end she pulled the fucking “he raped me because he loves me” card which is fucking disgusting tbh.
I find myself loathing yaoi for this reason, gonna take a break from BL until I find something that is basically 100% fluff and without the disgusting suspension bridge effect that BL loves so much for no reason.
Agreed, those are very common yaoi tropes, and I too loathe them. But sometimes in this big pile of nasty shit you find some really good ones that not only make you very joyous, but sometimes even teach you a thing or two. See the fluffy ones from Nakamura Asumiko (for ex http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/doukyuusei_nakamura_asumiko/) or Ichikawa Kei's or Esuto Emu (this one is really cute http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/ultras/), the goddess that is Yoneda Kou ( http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/doushitemo_furetakunai/, but my favourite is Saezuru form her), the amazing thing that is Zakk with Canis http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/canis/ and so on and on. In case you knew them already, a second read to give you hope in the genre? Or if you don't, could you please check them? Maybe you'll like them.
Well I'm sorry to be that person but if you came here looking for something down to earth you are in the wrong place. For me and other people who would agree that this is a place we're we come except reality. If you are try to make sense of what is right or what is wrong I'd advise you not to.
Bottom line is just go with the flow and don't over think k and just enjoy your self hell it is way better than reality
Thank you and have a bitch day
P.s I always wanted to say that (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I've only heard good things about Esuto Emu but I've yet to read her manga other than Hatarake, Kentauros! which was different and nice (I have no idea what's keeping me). Ichikawa Kei is a favorite of mine along with Yoneda Kou.
Canis looks absolutely great! I'm definitely checking that out soon!
I know there are a lot of hidden gems in this genre that's why I'll never quit it. It's the same with every other genre tho. Lots of average manga, few really bad ones, and few really good ones and it's my mission to read all of them to find those few really good ones and savor them.
I'm not really looking for anything down to earth or "real" I've just come to read something good. I don't tend to read manga with my brain shut off and take everything as a matter of fact (unless I'm really tired or something and I want to read something easy, simple, and fast).
It's absolutely fine for manga to be far from reality but once it establishes its rules it has to follow it. The author clearly tried to show a rape victim's feelings and his trauma after what happened but at the end, she was just meh I'll let them have consensual sex anyway.
What I'm saying is that it doesn't make sense, not to me as someone who has values, but it doesn't make sense within the frame of the story itself.
Agreed, it is a place to escape from reality. A wonderful and effective one at that and we all love it all the more for it. It's not about right or wrong, on the contrary, I quite enjoy those that play with/on what is "normal" and "the right or wrong thing to do". But trying to portray rape as wrong and the go straight on to normalize it is a big no, no. Normalizing rape like a lot of mangas within the yaoi/BL spectrum do is by no means acceptable in any world, be it fiction or reality.
True that!
I'm glad you like Canis, I was in awe when I found it! Speaking of hidden gems, I don't think many people know of http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/tokyo_shinjuu_totempole/ - it's so refreshing! There's also Shoowa and Jaryuu Dokuro and Kizu Natsuki and Natsume Kazuki and Kyuugou and Hideyoshico and so on and on. Mangas written by them just make me roll like a little ball of happy fluff, they're SO GOOD!! Maybe give them a try if you ever feel like it?
Anyway, enjoy whatever it is that your reading and your evening/day! :)
I'm currently enjoying Canis. It's surprising how much it panders my hands fetish but that aside I absolutely love the pacing. It doesn't try to rush itself and gives its characters space to grow. I love this sort of BL. When I noticed this manga ran in OPERA I wasn't surprised. This magazine always delivers the finest BL, for the most memorable manga from this magazine for me is Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! It's just so different that I can't possibly not love it with all my might.
Tokyo Shinjuu is also from that magazine so I'll not forget to check it out too.
Cute! Would love to see more from this Author. I love this sort of fluffy and adorable art style.
