Helmut: The Forsaken Child
Hmmm, it has a very interesting setting, but I somehow can't get behind how the story starts... I thought he has beast like behavior as he grew up with beasts, but he is tbh just a tack over mature child (nothing bad about it just weird that nearly every fantasy Mc child is too mature for their own age). He is nothing like a beast, or a wild animal. He feels like a boy who got locked up inside a cage and just wants to see the outside world and got raised by a human mother who just so happens to live in a forest and teach him how to hunt. Which is also kinda weird, because it doesn't seem that like he isn't bound to anything, not with the beast that took care of him, nor with the environment that he grew up with. No specific reason that leads to his decision to leave, as a young child, their familiar environment, he doesn't get tortured, nor does he starve, has a caring parent and just seem overall like a normal child. Nothing gets shown to explain why he has such a strong will to get out. They also didn't explore the fact that he wasn't human, besides his appearance, just a few interactions with his adoptive mother and suddenly he got a human teacher who teaches him how to git gud and become human. When the mother beast told him that a human lived somewhere in the forest he sprinted so fast he could and once accepted by the old human he just leaves his beast mom, like an 18 year old their home to study. It wasn't emotional in anyway, not in the webtoon and not for me. Like how, I just saw this character not longer than the first chapter, even less.
Kinda disappointed in that regard. I'll keep reading till he grows up and see if it gets any better, but tbh I doubt it, if you fail the intro, then you failed the story. Anyways if it does git gud I shall update this
