I get that, I'm pro adoption and I love seeing it in Manga and also mostly always wish for it in Yaoi.
But i feel like because they're royalty and the time that it's set, I don't hink adoption would be realtistic for people in their postion, probably be frowned upon. Maybe if the Emperor had a love child and the Empress was like "i'm taking them under my wing" etc
