If the guy was truly “nice” and “noble” he would have never ever accepted that proposition. A nice and noble guy would not marry a girl who doesn’t have a family for only six months and then leave her penniless afterwards. Like this is even a historical Manhwa....divorce ruins a girl! I can’t even imagine what a divorce after only six months from a Duke would do to the girl’s future. On top of that the girl would have to give up all of her family’s fortunes and become penniless after the marriage? A nice and noble guy would’ve rejected &/or made the proposition more fair to both parties.
Like at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if the Duke is a selfish person...but the fact that the girl overlooks that and constantly calls him “nice” and “noble” irks my soul! Like I get he’s “nice” to you during the marriage....but that doesn’t override the rules of the contract and what would’ve happened to a girl who wasn’t going to die when those six months were over.

I get where you’re coming from but he was kind of worried for her shown when they were signing the contract and he kept asking her if she was okay with the contents. This meant that she was allowed to make corrections or ask for more or smth (maybe not give the ENTIRE fortune but some of it). Also, the way she continued to talk sounds like she’ll keep some of the money regardless (cuz it makes no sense for him to take all to the point she’ll be dead broke) Plus she says she needs some money to travel which leads me to my next point, yeah divorce kind of ruins ppl but she’s a noble first of all that doesn’t have a good reputation regardless AND she’s going to travel anyways (probably somewhere kinda far) so it doesn’t matter what other people think about her. Also, last note but he didn’t think much about it because the rumors of her was that she was evil and bad; if she was like neutral and that cruel to THAT extent, then it wouldn’t have been a factor in his decision making. I think he’s overall a good guy, maybe not like the best but he is pretty caring for her.
“I became the Ugly Lady” where?! Because as far as I know you were only fat NOT ugly. And then they had the audacity to “melt” her fat away in the bathtub? And ALL the other characters started liking her + respecting her afterwards? This is a slap in the face to all your readers who are actually fat! Also, why is this not a do over webtoon instead? It’s unfair that the original girl suffered all her life because she was “ugly” and now new girl was only “ugly” for 0.2 seconds before she gets everything handed to her on a silver platter.
I'm not trying to burst your bubble or anything but during this period (like royals and stuff not included power power) women who are fat are considered "ugly" this was their generation actually, in our generation things our different now and we can change that, but I think the author just wanted to follow the stereotype of what happen during that period since the plot itself takes place with royalties

There was this thing with the demon thingy (or w/e her dad sent her off to) and he offered to let her reincarnate into the past (same world) but she denied. She ended up getting reincarnated into earth (our world) in which her world was a novel but after she died, she reincarnated into her world again. So she reincarnated 2 times but she only remembers her previous life.

I would agree with your statement if this story committed to the "historical/pseudo realistic era". The MC wears clothes that would get her killed as a noble . Don't get me wrong, I support all sort of clothing in a modern setting but tbe author made the setting historical, made everyone around her dress appropriately to that era and then made the MC dress however she wants and the kicker is that no one around her notices and makes a remark about it.
I mentioned that to say that the author is being inconsistent: if they want to use the historical stereotypes and beauty standards etc... they don't get to make an MC that obviously wears inappropriate clothing (again, inappropriate by the depicted society's standards) and even make it seem normal even though not a single other person dresses like the MC.
This leads me to believe that the "fat=ugly" is the author's belief and not the commitment to the setting. Simarly to that, the author showd the MC wearing all those clothes to appeal to readers and make the MC seem modern and attractive.

They didn't grow up together though. The ML was sent to academy Faraway not long after the MC took the body. And they only meet again when the ML is seventeen years old

In Islam, cousins allowed to marry cause they are not in the same womb and usually cousin from mother's side than from father's side. And for your information, it allowed in Islam but Islam not encourages to marry cousins. However not all people can see their cousins as marriageable partners especially when they grew up together like siblings. But if it is far away cousins who only able to meet when there is a big occasion I can relate to that. I'm a Moslem myself but I don't think I want to marry my cousin. And in this story they don't even related by blood.

I’ve been overweight all my life and honestly couldn’t push myself to read past Chapter 1. Like I went in thinking “yay fat girl representation” but instead I was greeted with a slap in the face. All of the fat jokes the author put in along with the way the author kept calling the girl out of her name like that was so unnecessary.

I put off reading this story bc I saw all the comments stating that the translations were bad but I’m on chapter 70 right now and the translations have been good all throughout! I was curious why there was so many “translations are bad” comments and so I scrolled through topics and apparently there was a mass upload of chapters in Nov 2019 (chapters 10 - 86) but all of these chapters have been re-uploaded with good translations!
Like I was out here seriously tripping over how I didn’t notice that the translations were bad for 70 chapters and it’s because they aren’t bad!

It’s weird that even though he was into her since they were kids, to the point where he memorized facts about her and cherished memories of her, he did a 180 when they got married? Like the flashback where she bullied him in front of others and then hugged him when they weren’t looking proved that he was into her even after knowing about her personality? But then after they got married he wanted her to suddenly submit to him? Like bc of the rebirth it’s obvious the Emperor has a damsel in distress/submission kink and it’s sad that he got handed the personality he wanted on the girl he wanted on a silver platter? Like the original girl had to die for this happen too? & it seems like the authors wanted us to sympathize with the ml guy by having the girl be into the general but come on....the Emperor didn’t pay any attention to her and he had a whole harem of girls. While what she did to her brother was wrong, her falling for the general wasn’t.
I guess my problem lies with the fact that the new girl incarnated into the body of a person who the Emperor loved but wanted submission from and of the body of a girl who once loved the Emperor but stopped because she didn’t want to yield to him. If anything I don’t hate any of the characters but just annoyed with the authors decision.
S/N I read some of the topics on here and I’m confused as to why others think that the new Empress and Emperor’s relationship moved too quickly? It would’ve been weird if it didn’t? Like the Emperor was already in love with the old girl and once he saw that her personality changed to one that he liked it’s not weird that he immediately started simping? For the girl even if she stated she didn’t like the idea IDEA of an Emperor she never disliked him? And once she saw the Emperor was a genuinely good person (through both the memories she had obtained and through his actions) plus the fact she was already married to him in a time that divorce wasn’t allowed and she found him attractive....it’s not bizarre that she simped back. If the guy didn’t simp for her and continued to distrust her then we would’ve all hated him....and the girl had no reason not to simp for him (considering the reasons I gave earlier)?

I absolutely adore this story! Like I love how this story didn’t use the annoying cultivation story tropes like in this story we have a girl who has a good supportive family, this story doesn’t rely on a guy, how the girl has friends who are going on the journey with her, the girl doesn’t hide anything (I was shook but happy how quick she revealed she was a girl and how quick she revealed she was an alchemist), any romance in the story was pushed until the girl was of age, and how this story has greater meaning then the girl just needing/wanting to power up! Also, the world building in this story is amazing too!
So I read this manga last night despite the 9.0 rating (I usually don’t go below 9.2). I read it despite the rating because it seemed like some people in the topics who read the novel were giving biased reviews. I do agree that this story is tragic. For all six chapters of the manga my heart was heavy. The author does an amazing job at connecting you to Ilya and her emotions. After finishing the manga I had to read the web novel (I never ever read web novels so this just goes to so how good the manga is). Before I continue my review I would like to state that I went into the novel without reading any spoilers.
When I finished the web novel and scrolled through the spoilers on here I saw that a lot of the complaints about the story was that it was too tragic and sad. However, as I read the web novel there was not a single moment where I had to stop reading because it was too sad (granted different people have different tolerances). The reason why I state that it isn’t sad enough to drop is because, since Ilya of the present is the one that’s always narrating, there is always a level of distance between both the readers+Ilya and her past lives. Another complaint I saw in the topics was that the ending was tragic and not worth it...to me this is far from the truth. If you go into the web novel expecting it to have a typical revenge manga/manhwa ending then I could see why you would be disappointed. If you treat the characters and the story as real then you will see that the ending is in fact happy, peaceful, and hopeful.
Overall, I highly encourage you to read the web novel/manga. Ilya’s story is worth reading.
