I’m not sure if Shavonne in chapter 25 (where he looks like an officer and told Lewellyn that he never loved him) is the same as the current Shavonne, so I have two theories.
1. Lewellyn liked Shavonne because he looked like his past lover (the officer Shavonne) since he looked like he got those scars on his back from somewhere, and said that he’s been through worse than execution and torture (and when he was thrown into the cell or whatever by the officer Shavonne, he had a lot of bruises). There was also a time where he conflicted self harm on himself (when the editor came to Shavonne’s house and complimented him) and didn’t wanna be “left alone again.” This kinda makes sense because if you think about it, Shavonne was a ordinary guy, who had no family or friends, to have Lewellyn pop out of nowhere and be interested in a guy who had no talents whatsoever other than publishing stories or writing stuff, is a bit suspicious.
2. This is the second theory, since we didn’t find out a lot about Shavonnes life during his early adult life, other than his childhood, he could have amnesia, and he could’ve had another job like being a police officer but got into an accident and it had an effect on his brain, convincing him that he was alone for most of his life and never had a lot of talents other than writing. This would explain why the therapist dude called Shavonnes his “patient,” and pretended to be his friend. (The story also never told us how they met too.) And Lewellyn, who was devastated but also took this as an advantage because Shavonne was lonely, and he thought that he could start over with him again.
These are just theories, but I just found chapter 25 to be a bit suspicious that’s all. You can add on or disagree with some things since I might’ve missed some details.
Ngl I wish they just ended it off as the knockers were gone entirely or Immo/Fushi accepted them coexisting with humans, the whole society advancing and tech arc is already kinda...how to put it... boring? It’s kinda just not fit to be in an anime where it’s based off of an ancient era where there’s no tech and realistic stuff, it’s just my opinions tho. The whole time skipping is just a lot to handle, I think they should of ended it kinda early if you know what I mean, it’s just a bunch of filler with more complicated info and I don’t know where they’re going with it.
also they should've ended it off with kahak dying with the knocker, i mean it wouldn't solve the knocker PROBLEM PER SAY but it was a good bitter sweet ending
