Is it weird that I'm the opposite? The fact that he once loved her so deeply but is now so content with her being miserable with him makes me hate him a lot more, with other shitty exes it's usually shown that they were never that great in the first place but Mincheol really did a 180, and while poverty and hardship is terrible, you can't say it makes you a horrible person, by that logic hae soo should really be just as bad as him.

Yes that makes sense but Mincheol still loves her it’s just that his love has become so twisted because he has lost his confidence as a man and his insecurities is what drive him to belittle Haesu even as he is living with another woman he thinks about her constantly idk I feel like the way he feels towards her is so realistic I’m enjoying the unraveling of his character (:

I love reading comments they remind me how differently people's mind process the same thing. Personally I hate the fact that a dude that once loved na haesoo so much is now happy seeing her living a terrible life thanks to him. His ego and self respect as a man is so low and destroyed that he's happy seeing na haesoo miserable as an "insurance" that he's still not At the bottom yet, na haesoo is. I feel like his love dried out. And now he's just in a competition with na haesoo to see her being more miserable,in order to feel like his life isn't in shambles. This also explains his involvement with the other chic, "a breath of fresh air" it just looks like he likes the fact he's still desirable to other women while na haesoo isn't attractive to other men and has no option but to forgive him even if he cheats, giving him the upper hand.

..how exactly would you define as love? sure he cares about what's happening to her cuz its different from what he expected. This is because his self-esteem is still tied to her, he views her as the most important because of how much confidence she gives him by sacrificing herself in the process. That's why she wasn't relevant till he noticed how there's no action on her end. All those years, he's been blaming her for being in that situation but if something really does happen to her, he'll have no one but himself to blame again and will only cement how worthless he is. Notice how he got mad that someone mentioned taking care of her? cuz he's in-denial to the fact that he's really been nothing but a burden to her. He's also more worried about if she might have enjoyed other men than the fact that she might have been forced. like be fr.


Of course its good how realistic its portrayed but I feel like just because he's good before ppl forget that doesn't qualify him to be bad now. Him being poor doesn't justify how bad he changed. Him being good to her before shouldn't be points to use to lessen the severity of his deeds now.

I think it’s both, like she obviously has genuine feelings for Izek but I think her desire to be queen is also tied into those feelings. Like it became part of what he could provide/offer as a potential life partner and if she liked him anyways, then social status/becoming queen was a cherry on top.

I don’t think she loves him. I think she loves the idea of him and what he can provide - power and a high position for her. I think that she thinks she deserves it all since she’s been beside the ducal family all along so it’s automatically her spot.

I think that’s true but if Izek was from one of the lower ranking noble families would she still want to be with him or would she aim for whoever was in the ducal family? Hopefully they dive more into her thoughts I love villain backstories lol

She definitely feels entitled to everything from them including their love and loyalty but perhaps she feels that way because she herself has put a lot of love into them too?

I’m inclined to believe she has genuine feelings for him and part of it is her having expectations for her loyalty and investment in the relationships she’s formed with the siblings but his status totalllllyyyy plays a part and I think I agree that she’s more in love with the idea of him and his status than Izek himself BUT I think she really does like him and Ellen and how perfect she thinks he is for her and honestly if he wasn’t who he was status wise she would probably be one of those ‘first love’ types who like him on the side but marry for status and then lament over what could have been and romanticize her commitment/feelings for him like if she hadn’t married for status she would have married him

You don't have to feel sorry for his adult self, but do you really don't pity little child?

Sure his parents are messed up and that’s not his fault but out of all the ways he could’ve dealt with his abandonment issues he had to go and turn into a scumbag?

Well I don't justify his current actions, but people go different routes even when they experience same things, so yeah he's now a scumbag, but as little child he didn't do anything wrong and was quite pitiful since you can't say he had a happy childhood

Facts are that he had his fucked up childhood and things like that change some people.

He could have decided another way of behaving, but since he had to live in this society full of fake smiles, he made his mind.

I did not like his character at first, but now it is breaking up a bit, slowly. I like this development.

And btw you still have the right to choose not to be bothered by his dramatic childhood. :)

Yes but I was just reading it expecting it to be a whole thing so when it suddenly cut off I was mad lol
