Well the first one was their father tho. They're brothers with different mothers. The twins were supposed to hate Yuzuru but the other liked him to the point of protecting him and died then I think Takumi is seeking revenge but also fell in love with Yuzuru. Well they committed double suicide~ and became the 'demons' in the temple lol

Takumi and ayato were half sibling of yuzuru. Yuzuru should be the one who will become the half god who will eat people when he grew older but because of the love of his father for yuzuru, his father became the monster instead. Did that make sense?
They didn't die, I think. That last part, you could still see the sacred tree and Ayato called it a house. Then there's the fact that thd flowers didn't wither, so it simply means that Ayato and Yuzuru took over their father's duty as gods. So, they didn't die, they became the kaminazaki or inukami or something(I forgot the name)
Oh yeah that too. I meant they died as a human, i think Ayato isn't a god, or is he? I actually don't know. I've already read it five times but I still don't get it.

Ayato isn't a god, just half... just like Yuzuru and the other brother that died. He became a god though along with Yuzuru when they decided to 'stop this' ... See, when Yuzuru went back to see his father alone, he got burned right? But when they decided to go back and stop it, they said there's no man eater right? That means they killed their father(although it's not really their father anymore since it became a demon), and took over since they both have godly blood inside them.
