From what I've read from spoiler threads, apparently there is a curse on her and 2 other people. The 3 of them committed sins and God cursed them. One of them is the head priest of the temple. He is the reincarnated of a husband who killed his partner or something like that. MC is the reincarnation of the wife killed. Her curse is to carry the sin of killing her child. The duke's son is the third reincarnated curse in which he kills his father.
So basically, the head priest knows a bit of the curse and tries to stop MC from getting married and starting the chain of curses or something like that. Father is somewhat in on it and that is why he doesn't want MC to marry (cause she will start he curse and kill her child).
Honestly, the story will be much more interesting if MC does end up following the curse, but we all know that is not going to happen. I know that following the curse would be sad but it would make a better story, and isn't this the purpose of writing stories. Making them interesting and entertaining. Like Romeo and Juliet, tragedy is more realistic and impactful. Just my thoughts though.
