The king really like riftan and so he actually plans to wed him and the magician princess but Maxi's fucking asshole wrinkly father saw that riftan a lowborn earn the king's favor surely he can land a higher position in the kingdom. Probably worried too because he engaged his other daughter to the crown prince and riftan is a strong candidate to be the king when he married the princess. So he made riftan marry Maxi his "PRECIOUS DAUGHTER" but he need to kill the dragon first before he can get Maxi out of the castle. And for the knights they think that Maxi is as rotten as the duke plus Riftans life is much more easier and wealthier if Maxi's father didn't interfere.

I really love how the author solved the issue between hyesung and sunbae. Instead of turning the sunbae into a bad guy just to support the break up, they both come into mutual understanding to what's best for them ┗( T﹏T )┛, i kinda shipped hyesung with the sunbae sobs
