I have stayed away from this story for a while. The main reason for that being the heaviness of it. I’ve read some fucked up shit before with even darker themes but for some reason I just couldn’t get past the first three chapters for so long. So today I sat myself down and I read all 73 chapters in one go. I just feel so empty, unsatisfied and sad at how it ended. Kyung didn’t even get closure. Yule had been tormenting him for years and he had found happiness in Dong-Hyuk. It saddens me that that happiness didn’t last. It upsets me that over 60% of this manhwa is Kyung apologizing for things that he can’t help. He blames himself for turning Dong-Hunk into a monster and that just kills me. Not only do so many people here fuck Kyung over but he ends up blaming himself for it. It is not Kyungs fault that he caught feelings for Dong-Hyuk and it definitely isn’t his fault that Dong-Hyuk threatened to kill him. All Kyung has wanted was to love and be loved and to be happy. This ending doesn’t show that he gets all of that. It shows he gets his old job back and meets Yule again. I know that the ending is supposed to show that Kyung is finally moving on and that he can face Yule now on even footing. But that doesn’t mean he is happy. That’s what I was scared of when I started reading this and my fear had come true. Kyung doesn’t get the satisfying ending of finally settling in with someone that treats him right. He just goes back to his “normal”. His life at the store and his life alone at home. The ending left me unsatisfied but it was still a fine read.
I wished that Im-Aeju stayed with the open ending and Kyung Soo ended up with none of the three rapist bastards, but well...according to ch. 73 and the author’s note, Kyung Soo ended up with a mildly...changed Yule.
Yeah exactly :( I would have rather had him just completely left behind those assholes. Like what if Yule said Hi and Kyung just walked pst him
