I adored Anna's (MC's maid side-story), there are so many loose ends so I would like it to be tied up through side stories.
Some of the comment bout it:
1.) I can't speak for everyone but I know why I don't like her. she sees the prince actively treating his fiancee horribly and it's not a secret that he places helena higher above mc but we see her do nothing about it. we don't see her chastise him or act upset about it. when the prince asks about her injuries, her reply is vague : it's fine, she's not in pain, don't worry. she does not mention that she fell, that it wasn't eris' fault even after the maid claims it was a malicious act.
as of right now, I don't think helena is acting malicious on purpose. I don't think she's a green tea / white lotus / whatever you want to call it but what she's doing is harming mc. from what we're shown, she doesn't do anything. she let's the prince treat his fiancee the way he does and doesn't try to stop it and we know helena in the original work discredits mcs love by saying it wasn't real. yes, the maid and the prince are primarily to blame, but helena does not get off scott free because she does nothing to stop what's going on and is seemingly content to remain where she is, knowing that she's loved.
childhood friends or not, she's far too close to the crown prince knowing he has a fiancee. they're not children anymore, they're at an age where some distance is required for propriety. she's not fully to blame for this, either, but it's not a good look, especially when the entire country knows the dynamic and that mc is hated. remaining where she is only furthers the rumors.
and, like someone already commented : if I watched my friend slap someone else ( their fiancee for petes sake ) over me, I'd be beyond pissed, but she never moves from her spot. there's a reason mc feels like an outsider around the people she's known since childhood and helena coming up now, asking to be closer, doesn't make up for the years of ostracization that she allowed to happen.
2.)True, i hate her too. On one chap of the manhwa, the OG Erise worked really hard to be a proper crown princess and to be a good empress. She was always exhausted but the other people still treated her as a villainess. there was one scene where she was crying and saying why Helena obtained their love when she (Helena) only knew how to laugh, while she (Erise) had to work so hard, but they don't even acknowledge her :(
We also come to find out that OG Erise only acted like a villainess so that other nobles would not touch her servants who were very close to her heart. She told her maid that she had to act cruel so that they (her maids) can go anywhere with their heads held up high because they deserve to.
