So today I learned that my grandfather almost became physically abusive with my mom (only once) in the far far past. And such an incident never occurred again, according to my mom.
…yk I really love my grandpa..always bragged how cool he was—polite, intelligent, etc…I’m just so lost right now after hearing this and I would really like some advice on what to do now. Don't get me wrong, what he almost did is horrible., and no one does that to my mom. Its just…a view I always had about my grandpa (and my dad, some things I learned about him are questionable) is completely shattered.
(Another question, is a depressed family a toxic family, and is it normal to be scared of your dad’s eyes when he gets mad)

You know that moment when you come across a comment on a story you really like that forces you to look at a truth about the said liked story, and upon seeing that truth, you can never look at that story the same way again, and your heart ends up breaking a bit… It’s not like you meant to overlook, nor ignore the small details, it just never registered. Yeah, that just happened today…. Man, I glorified the ML too quick. Don’t get me wrong! The ML is great! It’s just what I thought was 99% was actually less than that. Does a person who was born with an inherently bad mentality, but was only ever a good person because that’s what they wanted for himself and those around him, deserve happiness? (so like they never did anything bad despite having the mentality to do so) For example, let’s say there was a person (this is gonna be an extreme example ) who, for whatever reason, knew he would enjoy the act of taking lives, but didn't and never would want to because, basically put, he wanted to be a good person, (to which he succeeded in doing) still deserve happiness?
