Tbh there's a much better way of responding to someone saying "I love you" to you when you don't know your feelings rather than staying quiet. If she doesn't know her feelings yet like some of you are assuming then she could have said "I'm not sure yet. Give me some time to sort out my feelings" Alright Now he'll know that it's not that he's not worthy of her love, but rather she's just not ready. However she didn't do that. In fact she didn't do anything at all other than smile. This caused him to think "how dare I be greedy and ask for your love. Even if it's in the far future. I hope you love me" This is not a 50/50 in a relationship. You cannot read each others thoughts. You need communication or else it causes unnecessary drama.
