I also loudly gasped when I realized the God was the uke. I wish it were longer. I liked how short and straight to the point it was, though.

But honestly, I was already a bit disappointed with this manga, so the ending seemed to fit it well lol
I've stated this before, but as someone who is studying psychology, a loooot of things in the story just never fully added up. And a lot of things, I believe, still needed to be explained.
I think the beginning and a lot of twists and points in this manga were very interesting. But the execution always left me a bit disappointed. It seemed more focused on sex rather than someone truly dealing with Illness Anxiety Disorder. I didn't even mind the sex- what I did mind was how quickly sex was thrown into this manga and the amount of sex that shadowed over the plot. I liked Kurose's dark personality and double intentions. I also thought it was interesting how Shiro's IAD came about and how it manifested into something so serious.
But the ending just makes me feel like a lot of points were lost. The ending was cute, and could have been a good ending if a lot of the sex scenes and etc were thrown out. But so much information was thrown into the middle of the manga that I feel unsatisfied and, like everyone else, wishing for more.
ikr. It could have been a better story. It's almost getting so good and then suddenly it lost the impact and twists.
I really want Kashima and Toono to end up together. I wouldn't have minded if Toono and Yacchan had gotten together very early in the story and follow the predictable story line where Toono realizes he wants Kashima. I also deeply ship Yacchan and Tamura. It's interesting how Yacchan seems to be falling for Toono because he knows and pretty much accepts his true personality. Which is a new kind of feeling for him. Being liked for being himself, rather than faking who he is just to be liked. So it becomes more exciting for me when Yacchan accidentally slips up in front of Tamura. Because Yacchan doesn't realize it yet, but Tamura seems to accept his dark personality slips/true personality as well (when he called Tamura a toilet, when they were both together and scared in the dark, when Tamura saw Yacchan with the gel pack for the scratches on his ribs). So who's to say that Yacchan can't start catching the same feelings for Tamura? ouo I feel like one day, maybe if/when Toono rejects Yacchan, he'll snap on Tamura one good time and Tamura's true feelings towards him might come out.
I have another idea of how the story can go, though. This might be a bit far fetched, but I feel like Toono might develop a stronger connection/relationship with Yacchan in the future, since Yacchan has now proclaimed to protect him. And at some later point, Yacchan might initiate something sexual with Toono, where he would probably go with the flow. Toono seems to have an issue with going with the flow (look at how flustered and caught up he gets when Kashima touches or kisses him. Or maybe he'd realize he gets that way ONLY with Kashima). But in the end, I think Toono would realize he wants Kashima.
Also, as so many people have thought, though I don't want to admit it, a threesome between Kashima, Toono, and Yacchan is very plausible. The only reason why I agree with everyone else is because of how sexually vulgar this manga is lol We have definitely seen that everything is not as it seems. And the characters have a lot more depth to them than we had initially thought. Just look at Toono. Although he still views himself as very straight, it's interesting how easily carried away he is when being kissed or even attacked. I think at this point, it would feel a bit too OOC for Kashima and Toono's characters to straight up have a threesome, but this manga artist seems to enjoy shocking us and making the characters do things we wouldn't have thought they'd do (like Ameki's gentle and sweet partner fcking squeezing his kohai's head in the forest for insulting Akemi).
I really like at the end of chapter 28, where Yashiro tells Kageyama about when a guy is raped, all he ends up with is a torn asshole. And Kageyama tells him that it's not true, and not to pretend like that's it. Although the scene is almost comical (referring to the way Yashiro is drawn in a comical way in those few scenes), it was important for him to hear that. Because he is still running away from the truth of his past. Also, Yashiro's face after Kageyama asks wasn't he in love with Doumeki grabs at my little heart. He was definitely caught off guard and had to hurry and convince himself, as well as Kageyama, that it wasn't true. What's interesting is how he didn't even DENY that he was in love with Doumeki; he instead said why Doumeki wasn't in love with him back.
I also like the symbolism in Yahsiro covering his face in chapter 28 at the end before he explains to the doctor that Doumeki is like a baby bird. It reminded me of the chapter after Doumeki and Yashiro had sex and he covered his face when he had feeling in his arm again, as if he had put on a mask. He's trying to convince himself that anything Doumeki feels is purely dependence. But what Yashiro refuses to realize is that although that may have been true at first, Yashiro has done so many things for Doumeki that the dependence turned into love and I believe genuine feelings. Yashiro didn't view Doumeki as a monster for beating his father. Yashiro even fixed the relationship between Doumeki and his younger sister. And if Doumeki truly didn't feel something for Yashiro, why did his impotency eventually go away?
It went away bec. he found a reason to feel again. He got that reason Yashiro. liked the things you said,
I hope that in the next few chapters, Kanchan is definitely going to open up to Shuuna about the fact that he was physically, as well as sexually, abused at his old work. And how relieving the abuse he received at work onto Yumi- who just accepted it and never fought back- was his only way with dealing with his suffering. Because he had already mentioned to Shuuna that one time when they were watching TV that he had been through a lot at the old company. The things he couldn't tell Yumi; I think he will definitely open up to Shuuna about it. And that's going to help Shuuna realize why Kanchan was so terrible to Yumi and scarred him. I read cherry_cherry's basic summary about what's going to happen in chapter 8, and how conflicted Shuuna is over the situation. So I hope that leads Kanchan to finally open up and grieve about the abuse he went through, as well as his regret over how he treated Yumi. Because I was absolutely devastated at how Kanchan actually went to seek out people to abuse him the way he did Yumi.
And when that happens, I'm going to sob like a baby.
I won't make any excuses for Kanchan, but here's a sort of psychological explanation of why he was so terrible; When people like Kanchan feel like they have no control over situations/their lives and feel trapped, they tend to do things, often time very negative, to feel like they have some control over their life. He had such heavy responsibilities to take care of his mom, put his sister through an expensive school, be in a serious relationship, and support himself. There was too much at risk to just up and quit his job, so he felt like he had to endure it with no objections. He felt completely helpless and vulnerable; even more so when he was being verbally, physically and sexually abused. So by abusing Yumi, it gave him complete control over the situation. The first time he had hit Yumi, Yumi came back to him. So it just slowly progressed until the point where Kanchan broke it off, because he realized the monster he was, but he couldn't stop. If Yumi ever fought back, I think things would have been very different. But because he abused Yumi with almost no complaint or struggle back from him, it took a toll on him mentally and the guilt stuck with him for years up until where we are now. He knows what he did was terrible and he still believes he doesn't even deserve forgiveness. Whether the readers feel he deserves it or not, he deserves to move forward and have happiness in his life. It is very unhealthy to go through your whole life with that constant guilt. He should feel guilty looking back on it, but he needs to move forward. That's why I also feel like it's very vital he meets with Yumi again. Yumi was able to move forward with such a happy and progressive relationship, yet Kanchan is still stuck in the past.

Yumi didn't help Kan at all. He only offered himself like a sacrifice, didn't want to be pitied, went along with Kan mental mess. Kan couldn't find a way out and started to hate the carefree smile of Yumi, Yumi didn't question himself about it, like only think he was changing, or he was actually like that. He didn't have any faith in Kan, in his good heart. Please note I'm not blaming it in Yumi, more like...seeing the other side, because we all know violence is wrong and a violent partner has no right to be so.
All you say just sounds like " yes, he raped her, but she didn't fight back!"

The fact that you are comparing my comment with rape culture is disgusting to me personally, as I have been sexually abused in the past. I am commenting on fictional characters with opinions on what the manga artist is trying to achieve, don't you dare make assumptions or drag my real life personal experiences and opinions into this review.
I also have my own negative opinions on Escape Journey and I am in the process of writing a review on it, but this is a completely different manga. Your anger seems to be more directed at the author; if you have a problem with their manga, feel free to write them a letter instead of projecting your anger onto me with assumptions.
I can't even argue with comments like yours, because you've already demonized me with your assumptions. I said I was leaving a review on his PSYCHOLOGY. At NO point did I say what he did wasn't wrong. Look at the review again, and see the multiple times where I said what Kan did was WRONG. All I did was explain WHY he may have been abusing Yumi, NOT that his abuse was justified.

I am majoring in Psychology, so my opinions are only what I have learned in classes mixed with observations.
BACK TO THE MANGA;
Yumi really loved Kan. The reason why he didn't fight back might have been over the fact that Yumi always pretends everything is fine. Even back in secondary school, Yumi pretended he was okay when he wasn't, and only his current boyfriend/fiance was ever able to see through his character. I think Yumi's character almost matches how abuse victims are in real life. The first time they are hit, of course they think their partner won't do it again. But then they do get hit again; over and over again. They grow a dependence for their abuser. Obviously, we all say, "If that were me, I would leave the first time they hit me!". But in most cases, people don't. Unfortunately, Yumi was also enabling Kan's behavior. He would constantly tell himself that he and Kan could go back to how they were before and that Kan would eventually become happy again. He also never stood up to Kan, or confront his behavior. But again, this doesn't justify Kan hitting Yumi, nor is it Yumi's fault. I also wonder if Yumi felt like he 'deserved' the abuse due to the situation with that old broken phone he was holding on to. AGAIN, this doesn't justify Yumi being abused.
Kan wasn't like traditional abusers. He hit Yumi, and then continued to treat him coldly. Where abusers usually hit their lover, make excuses for why they hit them/tell them it won't happen again, and then go through a period where they suck up to their lover until they abuse them again. I'm honestly not exactly sure what the manga artist was trying to achieve. I think that they wanted to genuinely show "two sides to every story". But I also feel like Yumi and Kans situation is pretty unique, because their situations are pretty specific. We are still in the process of getting Kan's side of the story in this particular manga. Hearing Kan's complete story doesn't justify the spousal abuse, but it helps us paint a better picture of what may have led to the abuse. Even in the previous manga's, it only showed us snippets of what Kan went through and then made the reader fill in the blanks. Same with Yumi's story. I think that by the end of this manga, we are going to get a better picture of what Yumi went through, as well as hearing more of his side of being abused. Because even in Sabita Yoru Demo Koi Wa Sasayaku, it focused more on Yumi's past rather than his thoughts and feelings of the present situation.
I agree to an extent. But I think we can both fully agree on the fact that they both really lacked communication and support for one another. Yumi couldn't really help Kan because Kan refused to let Yumi in on what was happening with him. Yumi also had a problem with pretending everything was ok, and not opening up with how he truly felt.
It's interesting how you say Yumi let himself be a sacrifice to Kan. Cause in a way, it seems like he did. He knew something was wrong, and knew Kan wouldn't open up about it, so he seemed to think that by letting Kan hurt him, it may help him turn back into who he was. At least to an extent.
I'm sure the manga will eventually clear up some things, so hopefully we can see if we were on the right track.
The only thing I disliked about this manga was Hikari's age. I feel like he should have been two, because his thought process and even his speech was too advanced for a one year old.
I have little cousin who turned two back in April, and he reminded me so much of Hikari. He even has a baby sister like Hinata. She just turned one a month ago and their interactions are so cute.
I really like this couple, and I liked the omega aspect. I'm not a fan of children, and though it was very cute, the baby babble got a bit annoying. It's probably because I'm not used to children being the focus of the manga (though I can respect it). I hope something will be written about the friends.
At the start he was one, and barely turned two a while later into the manga.

Anyways, I also agree that the manga falls a bit flat. But in any case, it was very sweet and I liked the art.
The way the papa teased the other guy was so hot. It's a shame it was interrupted. That's the first time I've seen such nice dirty talk in yaoi.
I also think it was a bit sudden for the dad to test the other guy so soon. Like you just met a couple days ago, it's a bit weird to try and test him and ask him to fall for you.
Tbh I think a lot of you are over reacting. Let me explain.
You should never side with your lover just because you're dating them. I almost didn't want to read this volume because of how negative people are talking. Turns out, I disagree with mostly all of you.
Shinonome walked in on Yuki shoving Kousaka and he HIT A DESK. If I walked in on my lover violently shoving someone, I'd be like wtf. Disclaimer; Shinonome knows Yuki is quick to lose his temper, and he also knows that Kousaka is similar to Yuki (he calls them both big idiots, which made me a bit annoyed), but knows he's still someone to watch out for because of his crush. Shinonome walked Kousaka to the infirmary, basically told him he doesn't want him and he's sticking by Yuki's side, then went back to sort out what happened (which he couldn't do, because Yuki ran away). Shinonome knew that by telling Kousaka directly that he wasn't interested in him, Kousaka would end up treating Yuki negatively and would cause unnecessary hate (because Shinonome chose Yuki a long time ago). So I think Shinonome was waiting for a fall out like this to happen, but was shocked that it happened with violence. But, as usual, the manga artist likes to write all their characters with zero communication skills and caused drama. Cause I'm sure Shinonome knew Kousaka was most likely going to rile Yuki up. He just didn't know Kousaka would say what he did (which, later, turned out to also be a bit of a misunderstanding). The only good thing out of this was that Yuki was able to become more honest with his feelings.
Also, as a side note, can we discuss how shtty it is that all the characters in this series does is have sex instead of communicating and discussing their problems/issues? I never thought I'd see the day where I got annoyed with yaoi sex. If I wanted straight up yaoi sex scenes, I would read one shots. Don't give me sex where all the uke says is "no" and "stop". ESPECIALLY if they're telling their seme "I don't want to do it here". I want meaningful sex. Or nice consensual sex. I'm tired of the ukes acting like they don't want it. It's getting uncomfortable.

I completely disagree. Maybe you've never been in a tense situation like a fight before, but I have. I have 2 little brothers who beat each other and their friends up all the time when they fight. The worst thing I could do to make them feel like shit is to grab one brother who looks like they're being picked on and treat his wounds and yell at the other telling them they did a terrible thing. Thing is, you don't know who started it and whose to blame so you're supposed to ASK. I can only imagine if my significant other just assumed I was guilty and took another girls side over mine and led her away without hearing my explanation. I'd break up with him. That's so inconsiderate and rude. Also yukimura is tsudere and shinonome (usually) knows when he's pushing him too far. That's the whole basis of their relationship. Shinonome knows everything Yuki likes and puts up with him because he knows everything about him and loves him. He knows Yuki would never willingly make a move or do anything because of his personality, so he initiates everything and doesn't let him run away. I guess I can kinda see why you see it the way you do though.
I cried pretty hard when I first read this manga. I really love it and hate it at the same time. It's one of those manga where I can't find the heart to re-read it.
I know the omega can be a b*tch at times, but he didn't deserve to be treated that cruelly. But it does give out a good lesson; if you go in to something with pretty bad intentions, it could be reversed and you end up in a worse position.
Also, like others have said, the art isn't the best (I personally do like it, though). But the emotions are real and the way the manga artist conveys them and draws them out really gets to me. Especially during the sad scenes, I feel their emotions and want to cry. I think a lot of it also has to do with their speech. Some of things the omega says and the way he says it has a way of making me feel really hurt. I don't know, I can't explain it.
