This little moment in Here U Are struck me as an interesting answer. I read yaoi for the stories. Some are so clever (The Devil's Tango), horrifying (Killing Stalking), frustrating (most omegaverse stories, with a few brilliant exceptions), and heartbreaking (Rumspringa No Joukei and Dear Gene). I told someone I'm close to at work the other day. I talked about the stories, the crazy plots and twists, the variety of characters and settings and themes, and the romance.
