I feel like that place and the girl was the MC's safe space or atleast that's what he wanted to create, his own world...
Those people should just admit that their friend was never someone with a good character and they already knew that. He killed a girl that rejected him and also turned down MC's place, even if he's being controlled, he was already holding a grudge against mc and the girl, so I'm not surprised he got controlled that easily.
Them being so apathetic towards their "friend" killing MC's companion/lover?....I thought that dude there was like "he must have a reason for doing all that" when he met mc and now he knows why, trouble just follows him
