This is what I like about the story. No one is perfect. Both Maxi and Riftan have their flaws. This is about 3/4 of Book 1. Theres still aloooooot of growth for both. Hopefully Maxi won't get too much on your nerves so you'll keep reading it.

She's not a boring, meek person. It's that simple. How spoiled would it be to just casually allow your husband to do everything for you... no woman with any depth would be OK with that.

Tbh most women I know want a provider man like this. When there is a war time, most women have to wait for their husband to come home. There is nothing selfish about waiting for your man. I think it is more selfish to put yourself in danger. He is on the front line to protect you and your home.
If you go and die there (very likely fo Maxi with her 0 survival skill) that would make all his hard work, his sacrifice for nothing.

I'm not dropping it but I'm frustrated. Novel people are saying that it will get much worse so I'll let it marinate for a bit.

Honestly what she did was absurd. She has/had no experience with war or even fending for herself due to her status. She puts on a brave front and gets herself into trouble (like the troll? Was it a troll?) If Leon didn't save her she'd be dead.

It would be very selfish to put your own life on the line in those times. Think about it... she is his property in that day in age. If he dies she is FUCKED. Money runs out, she gets thrown back into the marriage bidding, and all those people he is ruling over are screwed over too. Every time he leaves he's gambling with all their futures.

Yeah but the system would protect you if you bore a child. If you can't do that you can also join a convent. Riftan can't avoid going to war. That's how he climbed up the ladder and that's how nobility was established back in the day. They would protect the land and in return the peasants would repay you in food/money.
His responsibility as a man and a noble is to protect the land and his family and Maxi's responsibility is to give him a child... Not run to the front line to die.

Honestly I feel like Maxi would be the adventurous type of woman (kinda like the princess) if she ever got a chance to actually be herself. She definitely enjoys horse riding and learning magic more than the noble lifestyle. Also I can imagine that for some women sitting, doing basically nothing all day and praying that their husband will return is more mentally draining than even risking their life. It is selfish and Riftan doesn't have it easy with her... but it's obvious that she's so much happier working hard and being somewhat useful. And also being closer to Riftan hahah

You are spot on. I'm more of a house plant type of a person so for me, sitting a home and waiting for my man is the obvious choice, lol. Either way tho, I'm sure the author will cook something nice even if I got bit frustrated xD

I tried to think what would I choose to do and honestly I don't know which option is worse also I read a bit of the novel and it's definitely gonna get more frustrating... But still worth reading hahah

I get it. When she snuck her ass in, that was stupid bc how can her comrades protect her when they didn't even know she existed in that war ? In a way, I do enjoy it bc it shows that both riftan and maxi are equally stubborn and does some secret side shit that may randomly appear out of nowhere. But know that everyone started with 0 experience. There are people, such as yuly and garrow, who got weened into the knight life but there are others who just got tossed into dangerous situation bc they had to. That just happened to be maxi and some of the other characters that you know. She may disregard of her safety to be with riftan but riftan is also selfish as well as he wants her to be an ornament to his castle, bathing in luxuries while waiting on him in their bedroom. She doesnt want to stay in her safe space garden and want to be with riftan out in the field. You cant stop a person from doing what they want, especially when what she is doing isnt hurting anyone, but rather, saving lives. Sure , she have to put herself in danger, but it applies to riftan and the other knights. Had she not been stubborn , he would have never let her leave the castle and learn magic. In this manhwa, she will learn that she, too, have a will and does not need to bend to every commands to the ones who 'own' her, like her father. She does not need to be a birthing machine and bend to her husband will. She will learned, along with riftan, that a relationship allows each other to have their own say and allow each other to grow. This is a start to a healthy relationship. This is also, in my opinion, to break the cycle of a toxic mindset of women staying home to give birth while men do their thing. Even maxi's father didn't want to do his duties and tossed it to riftan.
She had to start somewhere, just like everyone else. I admit, her actions in getting into this war was hasty and dangerous, but she was pretty much needed. Plus, it's in her personality to want to learn and move around. So she naturally started itching to do something more.

You're speaking as someone with modern individualistic privileged life but most of humanity did not live like that and could not live like that. The pill wasn't a thing too.
There really isn't anything toxic about men taking care of their wifes when they are pregnant and doing their thing (a job to keep their family fed).
Without women's sacrifice to give birth, none of us would be around. And men protecting their physically weaker counterpart that is taking care of a small thing is amazing and any man that does that is 10/10 quality material.
Riftan wanting her to have the privileged noble life style that 99,9999% of women in the entirety of humanity's existence can't afford is very noble. He knows that she is a woman that is way out of his league but he does his best to give her what he believes she had. It is not at all selfish of him to want the best for his wife in the world that they are in.
On top of it he constantly bends the knee and caves in to Maxi's selfishness and her want to live her own way. Her selfish want to be with him is lovable tho and I am sure that deep inside he was really happy to see her.
If Maxi becomes pregnant now, she will have hard time keeping the baby healthy and alive and then if anything happens, it will 1000% be her fault.

But this is also an era where there is magic and nornui. At some point in history, women began to speak for themselves. Although in our timeline, it's too early but their story involves magic. Nornui is important bc they protect all of their mages regardless of gender or sexes, ethnicity, race, etc. If a woman attends nornui and completes it, they become independent with the backing of nornui.
It is never selfish to want to give your partner the best. Riftan's job is to protect maxi however, his protectiveness is more of an obsession to the point where it don't make sense. How is it that she isn't allow to go out and do those stuff when Agnes is doing it ? Why are the women allow to enter the war to help assist the injuries when she couldnt ? She cant do it bc she is maxi calypse. Just as how he bends his knee to her, she has to as well. Remember when she injured herself from mana depletion? He just wanted her in the room all the time. If she wanted to go outside her bedroom and within her castle walls, he wouldn't allow it. Like I said, it felt like she became an ornament to the castle who waits on her husband in her bedroom. What women would be happy feeling like an object who waits for her husband's permission? The manhwa didn't display it well but it certainly did in the novel. It is selfish of him to stop her from wanting to learn magic. I admit, what she did was stupid. But she had to start somewhere just like everyone. It was unfortunate that she had to start like this. If she wishes to participate in war beside her husband, let her. We would like to stay jn that castle and wait for our husband, but she doesn't want to.

If something happen to the baby, it would be maxi fault? More like if the environment or someone or something didn't cause her to lose a baby, then she wouldn't have lost a baby, right ? Since u know about a baby, i would assume u know about her miscarriage. Had the stupid monsters not initiate the war, she would have not lost her baby. And know this, it is common for women to miscarried. It's just not shown in real life often and if it is shown, women are often blamed for the loss of the baby.

Agnes is not just anybody tho. She is a princess and isnot married and doesn't have the responsibility of bearing a child yet.
Look I'm totally with you that he should allow her to learn magic but she can still protect the people in the manor and in the surrounding area but it is also true that once she learns magic, she would def put herself in more danger and she did. Noble lady is an ornament and many many many women would love to be in her position but she'd rather suffer cos she is lonely. -_-

Which brings a point. She is a princess! And maxi is only a daughter of a Duke, whose position is far below. If a princess can do it, so can a daughter of a Duke. Agnes' castle is located away from drachium as her father wished for her to use magic without having to follow the stricter rules in his castle. She joined nornui not only bc she is capable of magic but also bc she gains independence, something that a title of a princess and noblewomen cannot have. She is free of persecution and abuse as nornui has her back.

Maxi def dived her ass in a bomb all right. Except, she thought the bomb was not that close and not that explosive. She misjudged everything.... or chose not to see the dangers of bombs at all and chose to take stupid risks to join them. I'm not denying that. That was stupid of her. But if my partner is in that bomb and is stuck there, I rather join and die with him than be miserable for the rest of my life. Fuck my castle and my wealth.

It's ok tho. Unfortunately or fortunately for maxi, there was many pros of her being there. And their relationship gets better. It's gonna be so adorable at the end.
