I get that he has trauma but you know your mother could have divorced? Even if the uke cheats on you,or you cheat on him you can just divorce? Let alone if it was your father that was the problem do you think you are going to do the same thing to uke someday like whats the issue here?
i don’t think getting a divorce is as easy as breaking up… when you get married, you literally get the government to recognize your relationship, you genuinely intend to spend the rest of your lifetime with them and you’re tied to them by law and everything. just breaking up can cause trauma for some people, let alone marriage where it’s taken more seriously…
even after getting divorced, it’s not like everything will get resolved immediately. the trauma will stay. putting aside the possibility of him repeating the abuse his mom experienced, kotani is a serious person and he clearly loves shishikura and wants to treat him well. he can’t possibly just marry him for the sake of it and then divorce him as easily, that would be extremely shallow

No one says it's easy, but it's possible. Why seme acting like they have a gun to their head if he gets married
In Japan too. Alot of Asian countries are still stuck in conservative ways and practices. It can look progressive on the outside because alot of our cultures are about saving face and keeping a happy and "united" family image for our neighbors, coworkers, and friends so they don't see our "shameful family business".
South Korea also has a HUGE misogyny, women are second class citizens, problem. Their society and culture is still very much designed for men by men. A divorce may stain a man's reputation a bit but a divorce can lead to heavy bullying by coworkers and friends and family for a woman. It can destroy her career and her private life. They still very much blame a woman for being "incompetent" and that's why "her husband left her for another woman."

he’s not, he’s very simply just scared. experiencing a broken family does more to people’s psyche than how it looks on the surface. some people get it so bad that they completely avoid romantic relationships or can ever only get into toxic ones. kotani’s basically just running away from the idea of marriage likely because he views marriage as whatever happened between his parents. once he gets it sorted out, there’s no way he’s not gonna marry shishikura lol
