HA! Makoto can't catch a break! J still won in the end. I love that the entire time in volume 3, Makoto keeps telling himself to be on guard and not slip up yet at the very last minute, J overthrows him and gets what he has been longing for the whole time. I very much love their back and forth mind games in the last couple chapters. Especially that one scene in the end where you'd think M finally wins and you see his childlike wonder in a seemingly normal conversation and then BAM! J dropped the bomb on him. My brain exploded at that exact moment and I felt such an overwhelming sense of surprise, joy, and amazement of all the buildup leading to this moment. Such great storytelling!!!
I also love that S (Shax) and D (Datenshou) had their own lovely little family with a kid and a bar and away from trouble (which is Makoto lol) because of the pact. In a way, these demons were allowed love and not have it be their downfall and I think that's paradise in hell. For demons, to call someone you love by their name is a luxury. J and Makoto could never have that. I undersrand why that can be lonely. Good luck to F (Fjord) though who has to deal with the aftermath! XD
Super happy with the ending and looking forward to rereading this in the future!!
