I'm aware it is prolly just an innocent mistake by the uploader that this is categorized as such and I personally wouldn't make a big deal of it but for some people it may be inconvenient or even a little triggering, especially to those who have a distaste for the gender bender genre.

It's not, because she is inherently a female and also identifies as one, turning male is more of a 'condition' to her than anything and this is basically a common trope in 99% of the gender bender genre which excludes it from the yaoi genre. Therefore gender bender, in spite of anything, is NOT yaoi.
I hope that clears it up.
