At a glance both seems like a stereotypical "weak" uke and manipulative seme but something in their character and their own relationship makes them very right for each other without losing it's own dysfunction.
I love how sure they are about each other's love but at the same time makes their own bad traits thrives in hindering healthy communication. Raymond's selfishness and scheming doesn't feel forced and even made me feel bad of him knowing he has been refusing himself any kind of peace ever since he's 8, molding himself into this revenge machine. Use or being used, nothing in between. All of his actions (often horrible stuff) make sense knowing his character and motives. Just like Ian in his own way.
Ian has perfectly learn how to endure and hold on to any spec of happiness he could afford made him cling to the relationship knowing it's crushing him inside. He is aware of his own weakness, emotions and very perceptive on his surrounding. Pragmatic but doesn't lose his idealistic morals. His weakness doesn't come out like a naive damsel but instead someone worth cheering on.
Both character are the perfect medium to tell a political drama like this.
I'm very satisfied on how the story doesn't go full tragedy on several twist and turns. It succeed to mature the main couple and gave fulfilling end to the story.
Suha could at least tell him he's going to grab his stuff... Jiwoon said that multiple times, at least tell him so he wouldn't freak out.
They have just been through being drugged and forced down, honestly i don't blame jiwoon for being extra careful at first. Nothing has been toxic so far (hopefully won't be), a bit unhealthy but time is needed for communication to go on sometimes
You can't just romantically attracted to any person who like you...
It's been years and keito have not even once felt it with masayuki despite him throwing flirts. Keito was right when he said it's bad for him to just brush masayuki's feeling instead of rejecting him properly. He has always been vague in relationships both to gino and masayuki. But so does masayuki, despite the flirts he never properly confess. Gino got the gaijin card and seems to just genuinely move with a whole different moral code, and just went with it while still being confused on his feeling to keito. Despite that he still listen to keito and then express his feeling when it's more understandable to him.
It's cute on front but skin crawling when you realize all his fluffy kids coloring book thoughts is the effect of his lowered thinking capacity. On one hand it's good because it's a cushion to the trauma he had faced but on the other hand he was robbed of being matured as human being. It's heartbreaking to think he's stuck in that toy box mind seeing his dream still show traces of coherent desire like he's still a normal boy. Show you how traumatic and dark theme could well be shown in a very cutesy arts...
The whole point of the timeslip is to make them met first as equal long before they're father and child. Then to rise questions regarding taboo, why it's bad what's more important. Beside genetics one of it because in such relationship they couldn't be equal but this plot device bring it out of equations (kinda). Ryou knew but said fuck with it cs he's a child himself and didn't see himself returning. It must've been hard for Konomi...
Fiction is amazing
I don't think Ryou have attachment to Konomi as a child to father either. Ryou's first memory of meeting him, he saw him as a cool guy, maybe some adoration. He himself said he never feel his affection as father. So on the time slip the longing and adoration move it's direction quite quickly.
It's like finding your current partner that you met in tinder actually your long lost sibling :") fuck that sad
I feel the story wanted to show different kind of dysfunction. Something that is very common tbh, the ability to be vulnerable, to be attached with your partner. Sieon gave everything to please his partner, material, time, comfort but not his "heart". You don't have to be serial killer or dying or anything to be this way. Sometimes people just don't give their selves to other, you might know what he likes and hate but they never really bare out how they feel, close but out of touch.
At first it make us think that namwoo is the one that need to be able to open up and rely on someone else. Realizing that he is not a burden and make a connection to other. But the more we know, sieon is also the same... in a different way. He needs to be available emotionally, form an attachment that reciprocate his gestures as form of love, not self gratification. Knowing he is very used to be a daddy but never chase out any of his sugars, seems like he is not capable of being attached to someone (yet)
He is too good to be true sure but is he? It's just that his flaw is might not as scandalous as people think, both in form or motivation. There are just too much abusive tops so people got confused when someone "dominate" like sieon does.
I personally love how the interact and try to talk out their mind. The small gestures like hnd holding, finger touch, blushes... felt so sensual in a very personal way ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
