The brother kidnaps MC, and Garon goes on a rampage to find them bringing death and war everywhere. The brother decides to name the MC, and he accepts before going their separate ways. The brother accepts that MC will never be happy by his side and is happy just being platonic soulmates (when you name an imae your souls become tied). MC returns to Garon after realizing he wants to be by his side despite everything, and Garon finally realizes his feelings for MC and starts being a "green" flag. Also, at some point, the MC feeds Garon a piece of his horn to cure him of the poison.

According to the novel, Garon is kinda like a psycopath, like he cannot empathize with others' pain and due to his upbringing he's always felt drawn to kill/hunt/destroy. MC doesn't forgive Garon for what he's done even after they get together, in fact Garon spends the rest of the novel trying to alleviate the pain he's caused even if he doesn't understand it or feel guilt over it. MC comes to terms with the fact that Garon cannot empathize so in the end, through communication, they understand and accept each other, not trying to bend the other to their will anymore
i love how the artist draws an zhe’s expressions to characterise his detachment and apathy towards what’s happening around him.it’s like he’s not concerned with nor involved in all the terror and chaos caused by the failure of the city to keep the mutated fauna away.
he is not human. he only cares about getting back his spore and returning to the abyss. whatever happens to the northern base has nothing to do with him. but it’s also great to see this sentiment interspersed with moments of him showing sympathy and care to those who he establishes some relations with. mr.shaw, poet, of course, lu feng. maybe that’s one of the traits he innately inherited from an ze. that’s if empathy is genetically encoded(?). anyway i love the artist’s style…ヾ(☆▽☆)
mr.cha i want to swallow you whole like a crocodile
