I saw some people saying the kiss was rushed but don't think it was rushed and to be honest chloe is clueless about the duke's feeling and I felt that kiss caught us all by surprise and chloe as well which makes since for these types of stories and maybe chloe will start to be more aware of his feelings cause yk she's always in survival mode so that's why I think it wasn't rushed and happened at the right time bc this whole time she also thought he was gay cause in the previous chapters she would remind herself that when she would kinda stare at him but if she knew the truth from the beginning they might of kissed preeviously.
